Interested in trying competitive dance without jumping straight into an advanced schedule? Our new beginner competition option is a great introduction to the competition experience while dancers continue building strong technique, confidence, and performance skills.

As we step into our 30th year, we wanted to take a moment to reintroduce ourselves.

Thirty years ago, Dance South was founded with one simple goal: to create a place where dancers could learn, grow, and find a second home. Our mission has always been to provide high-quality dance education in a positive, encouraging environment where every dancer feels seen, supported, and inspired to reach their full potential. Whether a student dreams of dancing professionally or simply wants to experience the joy of movement, we’re honored to be part of their journey.

Every class, every performance, every competition, and every standing ovation has been part of our story.

As we celebrate our 30th season, we’re excited to welcome new faces while continuing the traditions that have made Dance South so special.

✨ NEW at Dance South! ✨

We’re excited to introduce our Beginner/Intermediate Competition Team—the perfect opportunity for dancers who are ready to experience the excitement of competition in a fun, supportive environment!

Whether you’re new to competitive dance or looking for a shorter, more flexible commitment, this program is designed just for you.

No previous competition experience required!

Tryouts will be held during the first day of class—no separate audition date needed!

Choose one style or train in them all!

🤍Grades 3–5 | Mondays

Jazz/Musical Theater | 5:15–6:00 PM

Hip Hop | 6:00–6:30 PM

Ballet/Contemporary | 6:30–7:15 PM

🖤Grades 6 & Up | Tuesdays

Ballet/Contemporary | 6:00–6:45 PM

Jazz/Musical Theater | 6:45–7:30 PM

Hip Hop | 7:30–8:00 PM

✨ Program Highlights
• Choose one, two, or all three dance styles
• No previous competition experience required
• Tryouts held during the first class
• Only 2 competitions during the season

Dance South Performing Arts offers classes in Classical and contemporary ballet, pointe, jazz, tap, lyrical/modern, hiphop, and tumbling, We focus strongly on technique by including the American Ballet Theatre National Training Curriculum.
