Upon “She’s” release in 1996 the crew at October Records had me doing interviews at most every radio station in Minneapolis: Rev-105, Radio K 770AM, Cities ’97, KQRS and this interview for The Minnesota Modern Rock Hour, hosted by Mad Mike on the short-lived commercial rock station KEGE "The Edge" 93.7FM. Quite a time capsule, mentioning a bunch of local bands that were all amazing: Tommy Stinson's BASH & POP, Ed Ackerson's Polara, Flipp & my former house mate Chris Dorn's band The Beatifics.
The station made local music a priority in its short lifetime, releasing local artist CD compilations and staging the enormous Edge Fest that sometimes booked local openers like Greazy Meal… a band that included the producers who made She with me, John Fields & Ken Chastain (fun fact: I briefly managed Greazy)! The Edge were committed to getting the word out about new music like this interview upon the She CD release. Now, thirty years later, She's on vinyl for the first time. Pick up a copy here.

In-concert footage courtesy of Steven Greenberg, shot at Mill City Music Festival on 1st Ave. in downtown Minneapolis, for his documentary film "Funkytown" – which you can watch in full on YouTube. I'm in "Funytown" only briefly, but do get the biggest laugh ;^). My stunningly talented live band in the footage: Jim Weber guitar, Christopher Lakey drums, Craig Holets bass. I know, I know, there's A LOT of me rocking and no audio, none was captured. Steven and crew were looking only for a brief moment of my face as an ironic silent cutaway in the film.
