Pinheads - Jeffery Lanes in Wheeling IL.
Jeffery Lanes, also known as Pinheads, was established in the 1950’s, and it has one of the most interesting histories of any bowling alley in Cook County. When Helene bought the bowling alley, she was told by the regulars that it was haunted by Bud Miller, the original owner, who passed away in the building. While Helene originally laughed off the stories, she slowly began to hear odd noises, almost like footsteps, coming from the upstairs apartment, which was empty at the time. Later on, she also heard the same strange footsteps going up and down the lanes, but both times, nothing was there. After having friends report the same experiences, Helene is now completely convinced of Bud Miller’s presence in Jeffery Lanes. The paranormals came out to investigate and confirmed that Jeffery Lanes is a Class A Haunting.
This historic haunting fits perfectly with Jeffery Lanes’ vintage atmosphere. With only eight lanes, and no electronic scoring, this bowling alley aims to take guests back to yesteryear when the game just meant hanging out with good friends while having a great time. Their lounge offers a fully stocked bar and two jukeboxes. After all, there’s nothing better than adding a few cold ones to an already fun and relaxing evening of bowling.
Jeffery Lanes also offers event and party hosting services. They have been holding an annual Firemen and Paramedic Bowling Tournament for almost 60 years now. The bowling alley is also available to be rented out by private parties and charities. Jeffery Lanes allows guests to bring in their own food for such events. If you’re looking for a blast from the past while sipping on a good beer, listening to great tunes, enjoying quality company, and “Bowling the way it USED to Be,” Jeffery Lanes will take you there.
