WHEELER COUNTY EMERGENCY MANAGEMENT

Did you receive any damages from the Winter Storm last week?

Wheeler County is NOT currently declared a disaster by
President Joe Biden, please report your damages to TDEM.Texas.gov/warm.

We are providing FEMA Federal Emergency Management Agency
with additional damage totals so they can make a determination to provide assistance to individuals in these counties as well.

The objective of this survey is to identify damages across Texas, to help emergency management officials across the state gain an understanding of damages that have occurred during the recent winter weather.

Please submit one survey per impacted address.

Reporting damage to Emergency Management is a voluntary activity, is not a substitute for reporting damage to your insurance agency, and does not guarantee disaster relief assistance.

DURING THIS CRAZY COLD WEATHER, A FEW REMINDERS FOR HOME SAFETY

The Texas Panhandle has just been notified that we will be experiencing rolling blackouts for 30-45 minute increments every 8-12 hours for the next 2 days. This is in response to an overwhelming of the Ercot Power Grid from the freezing temps across the State. Please take proper precautions. There will not be any warning to when these temporary outages will occur.

*PREVENTION OF CANDLE 🕯 FIRES
Use sturdy candleholders
Keep candles on sturdy, clear surfaces
Blow candles out before they burn all the way down
Give burning candles a one-foot berth on all sides
Never leave burning candles unattended
Never leave kids alone with burning candles
Don’t burn candles where people sleep

*SPACE HEATERS
Never leave a space heater unattended
Keep children away to prevent burns
Keep heaters a safe distance from walls, clothing, furniture and all other type of obstacles.

*FIREPLACE & WOOD BURNING STOVES
Ensure chimney and roof are clear of debris
Never burn trash or other materials not suited for fireplace.
Keep fabrics & flammable items away from fire & hot surfaces
Teach children safety tips and never leave a young child unattended while fire is burning
