Saturday December the 19th will be the last day we will be open. Us two Jo’s will be there 11-8. Gelato will be on sale for $2 a serving. Mini golf $5 for kids and adults, I have turned off the card machine so cash only please.
That said, thanks for your support at both the tool rental and JoJo’s it has been great being in business here in Wetumpka the last 15 years. I survived the 2007/2008 crash that closed 4 other tool rental stores within 20 miles. I survived multiple back surgeries and pretty much having to learn to walk again in 2017. I survived the transition to a different business that I could physically handle. I couldn’t survive the government making it illegal to earn money.
I had big plans this year, to add a lot to landscaping, to remodel the 10th, 16th, and 17th holes. To add the pavilion and deck. To add the golf/pool table. To pay down debt, and to be up 30%. Then the week before Spring Break we were forced to close for 3 months by the Governor. (Who a few days ago said that she knew it was a mistake the day she did it). Then 9 months of no self service allowed, which to satisfy, the requirements would have meant I would have been paying you to eat yogurt instead of you paying me due to added staffing expenses.
Well Governor I agree with you it was a horrible mistake, a asinine mistake, a ridiculous mistake that has destroyed what I worked for over a quarter of my life. So instead of a thirty percent increase in revenue I have a 76% decrease in revenue. Instead of turning the page into a better station of life, it has put me in a deeper hole than I ever imagined.
It turns out that my business was essential to me and my family. Just like all the others you destroyed this year were to those families.
I could say a lot more and if you ask I probably will😂🤪. But, again thanks Wetumpka I have enjoyed serving your needs both with the tool rental and at JoJo’s.
But, I can’t justify digging a hole any deeper than the one I am currently in. The precedent has been established that for months at a time it can be illegal to earn money( but guess what? The same government that destroyed us and hasn’t even been out to inspect us since last August still wants “their” $75 fee for the year). I can’t handle the stress anymore of that very real danger that I will be “non-essential “ again nor will I allow the hole to get any deeper I am in.
So come out tomorrow and enjoy 18 holes of fun mini golf, and while supplies last gelato at $2 a serving. 11-8 Saturday the 19 th of December 2020. The year it became illegal to earn a living.
