Niki Ketchman Fine Artist Welcome to my Page. I would like to share my art, thoughts about my work and happenings at gallerie I tend to work in series. One can walk into or through others.

Within each series the work is tied together by a theme or idea. My most recent series is the Resination Series. My Rose Series which consists of sculptures and digital prints is one of my largest. The rose is a pervasive image in life, literature, visual art songs and film. It can signify everything from love to war, from romance to death, from celebration to mourning and therefore seems a perfec

t image to use when addressing the passing of life, the passing of time. Sculptures in the Rose Series are made by sewing, weaving, draping and decorating and incorporating digital prints in the same way that my sculptures in other series have been made. A variety of materials are used including steel rods, wire, fabrics, vinyl cord, Aqua resin and more. Ideas about where art, function, craft and design intersect are on my mind. My sculptures are most often interactive if not necessarily functional in a traditional sense. One can sit on some sculptures or lean against others. In this way the visitor experiences the work physically and well as visually.

Next from the Whitney Biennial, is Cooper Jacoby's Mutual Life pieces. He created them after his health insurance company offered him a discount if he took a genetic test that measured his "biological age"-an estimate of health that does not always correlate to the number of years someone has lived. The sculptures take the form of clocks, with minute and second hands made from real teeth. Each clock functions as a kind of portrait based on a different individual's test, tracking its subject's biological time by moving faster or slower than standard time.

We visited the Edward Hopper House Museum and Study Center in Nyack NY. The Museum is in the house that Edward Hopper lived in until he was 28 years old. It was built by his grandfather!

Wikipedia: Edward Hopper (July 22, 1882 – May 15, 1967) was an American realist painter and printmaker. He is one of America's most renowned artists and known for his skill in depicting modern American life and landscapes. His work often features quiet streets, gas stations, and people alone, creating a sense of loneliness and reflection. Hopper's signature style uses dark color palettes, strong lighting, and cropped viewpoints to convey deep emotions like isolation and hope. His best-known work is Nighthawks (1942).

🗓️ Ending Soon! The exhibition is open until August 12.

🖼️ My daughter, Karen Kallins, and I are presenting our first exhibition together, and it’s been incredibly meaningful to see our work displayed side by side.

The exhibition features 19 works by each of us. I am exhibiting my Resinations, mixed-media works created with resin and found materials, while Karen will be showing her Submerged series, fine art photographs that combine botanicals, water, and flowing inks.
