Tickets are now on sale for our screening of DUMBO!

This is a wonderful Disney classic, that is only 1hr and 4 mins for all of us out there with shorter attention spans! 🐘 🎪

A young circus elephant is born with comically large ears and given the cruel nickname Dumbo. One day at a show, he is taunted by a group of kids, inciting his mother into a rage that gets her locked up. After Dumbo's ears cause an accident that injures many of the other elephants, he is made to dress like a clown and perform dangerous stunts. Everything changes when Dumbo discovers that his enormous ears actually allow him to fly, and he astounds everyone at the circus with his new talent.

Fun Fact: Dumbo is the first and only protagonist in a Disney animated feature film to have no spoken dialogue. This was Walt Disney's favorite film made by his studio.

Tickets are now on sale for our screening of THE HANGOVER!

It is being shown on the day of the Mexican holiday Cinco de Mayo! 🇲🇽🎉

This hilarious comedy directed by Todd Phillips tells the story of Phil Wenneck (Bradley Cooper), Stu Price (Ed Helms), Alan Garner (Zach Galifianakis), and Doug Billings (Justin Bartha), who travel to Las Vegas for a bachelor party to celebrate Doug’s impending marriage. However, Phil, Stu, and Alan wake up with Doug missing and no memory of the previous night’s events, and must find the groom before the wedding can take place.

Fun Fact: Mike Tyson was drunk when creator Todd Phillips and Justin Bartha, who plays Doug, convinced him to do the movie. The guys were doing shots in a Las Vegas nightclub owned by Nick Cannon when Phillips and Bartha pitched Tyson the role.

Happy St. Patrick's Day everybody! 🍀

Here are some movie recommendations to get you in the spirit of the holiday and feel extra lucky 💚:

WAKING NED (1998) is a hilarious indie-comedy that takes place in a small Irish town where one lucky old man, Ned, wins the lottery- and dies from shock. Since he is the only one who can claim the prize, the townsfolk come together to convince the claim inspector that Ned is alive so that they can get the cash and split it amongst themselves.

THE LUCK OF THE IRISH (2001) is a fantastical movie the whole family can enjoy! A teenage basketball player must find his stolen lucky charm by an evil leprechaun in order to prevent him and his family from turning into leprechauns forever.

ONCE (2007) is the musical that inspired the Broadway production of the same title. Set in Ireland, two aspiring singer-songwriters band together to play music and find love in the process. In 2012, the Broadway version won a Tony Award for Best Musical.

LEAP YEAR (2010) is a romantic comedy about a Celtic tradition that allows women to propose to a man on February 29th, which happens only once every four years. Amy Adams stars as the woman determined to surprise her boyfriend in Dublin with a proposal on this date, only to find herself on the other side of the isle where she meets a handsome Irishman who may detract her from her mission.
What other Irish and Irish-inspired movies do you recommend watching to get into the St. Patty's Day spirit?

Westport’s heritage as an arts community is long-standing. As early as 1904, painters, sculptors, printmakers and illustrators gravitated to Westport, CT from New York City. A Bridgeport reporter noted in 1911, “there seems to be something in the air and scenery of this town which induces artists to settle within its limits.”

In 1931, “The Westport Idea” originated with Samuel Duff McCoy, a poet, biographer and newspaperman. Nowhere in the radius of New York, or any large city, was there a year-round community of artists. Forty-three artists and twelve writers joined together to create a collective that planned and exhibited together under McCoy’s leadership.

As promised, here’s our Tuesday movie recommendation for Black History Month 💫

Today we invite you to watch HIDDEN FIGURES (2016): Three brilliant African-American women at NASA -- Katherine Johnson, Dorothy Vaughan and Mary Jackson -- serve as the brains behind one of the greatest operations in history: the launch of astronaut John Glenn into orbit, a stunning achievement that restored the nation's confidence, turned around the Space Race and galvanized the world.

Remarkable Fact: Katherine Johnson began high school when she was just 10 years old!
