Hi all! Our friend Barbara Sampson is having a solo show at Tim Rossow's new gallery in Ocean Shores. Watercolors AND pottery. Opening reception is Friday Dec 3rd, noon to 4pm.

Well, that's it. Shop's closed. Done and dusted. How fast did that 3.5 years go by!! It was such a fun adventure, I want to say Thank You to all my friends who stopped in to visit with me, everyone who took classes with me, the Presto family for being such wonderful and kind landlords, and everyone who spent their hard-earned money in my shop. God only knows what the next step is, whether it's finishing our garage and setting up my studio in there, or if I luck into a really good space in a different location. For now, The Cat's Away Studio lives here on this page. All my stuff is packed away, so I won't be posting any art for a while. I'll be too busy during tax season anyway. The upside of closing my shop is that this holiday season I can actually GO to fairs, festivals and holiday markets! I'm going to enjoy being a "civilian" for a while.

The latest news I've heard about the building selling or not selling, is now it may be delayed until March or April. The county is putting the potential buyers through hoops.

Thank you to everyone who supported me and my little shop. I hope I run into you out in the world!

Hi all - I must apologize, I’m not going to make it to the Seafood Festival after all. I woke up not feeling great this morning and I don’t want to spread disease and pestilence, even if it’s just a cold. Plus with the on again, off again chance of rain - I have canceled attending. I beg the forgiveness of the Westport Grayland Chamber of Commerce for canceling, and hope the rain stays away!

I want to say a very public and heartfelt thank you to my bestie, Alicia McLean. I couldn't have done this weekend without your help. Love you!

And also, a big thank you to everyone who came out to support local artists at the Westport Art Festival. I had a terrific weekend. Not just good sales, but it was SO great to be out in the world talking to PEOPLE! Seeing friends I haven't seen in a long while, making new friends.

Having always had jewelry in my booth, I very rarely had male customers. Occasionally someone surprising his wife. The most interesting thing this weekend with my new gel print art, was that I sold art to three different youngsters, who were all three boys, into art themselves and who genuinely loved my booth! They all bought octopus or turtle art. I had GREAT conversations with these budding young artists. It's pretty validating when a 10 year old thinks your stuff is cool, lol.

I will be at the Seafood Festival in Westport on Sep 4th, and I'll be bringing my candles, The Best Damn Candles On The Planet. Just in time for fall scents and holiday stock up shopping!

TOMORROW!! Woohoo! Westport Art Festival in Westport, WA. Lots of terrific artists, good food and music - at the west end of the marina, surrounded by wonderful nature. You just can’t beat the for a terrific weekend. Stop in to see me - Booth 66.

I have not abandoned jewelry making altogether! I will have these earrings at the Westport Art Festival along with all the paper art I’ve been showing you. I snipped these earring pieces from vintage to***co and cookie tins. Looks like the weather’s gonna be good. Great weekend to come out to the beach, enjoy the festival, get your seafood on.
