"Says You!"

"Says You!" The Official Says You! page. Public radio's weekly comedic word game show. If you could play badminton with words, it would sound much like Says You!

Says You!

…public radio’s quintessential quiz show, aired weekly from coast to coast. Undeniably the warmest, wittiest cocktail party you’ll ever enjoy, whether there’s bubbly in your glass or in your personality. It’s spirited and civil, brainy and boisterous, with bon mots and badinage aplenty, peppered with musical interludes. Fast paced and playful, it’s the most fun you can have with languag

e without getting your mouth washed out with soap. Take one word, add two teams, create three definitions and throw in a live audience. And, that’s Says You!, the last word in radio quiz shows since 1996. Curious listeners know our motto: It’s not important to know the answers…it’s important to like the answers.

Plans Sunday afternoon? A very special 4:00 performance awaits at The Burren in Somerville. The Brian O'Donovan Series presents Isabel Oliart a 27-year-old fiddler from Boston who has been playing the violin since she was 3 years old. She started taking fiddle lessons with Anne Hooper in 2009. Isabel has earned accolades, honors, and awards - but more - she has won the hearts of so many NPR listeners through Says You! Isabel performed on Says You! at Regis College in Wellesley, MA; 51 Walden in Concord, MA; Studio One at Vermont Public Radio, and at Town Hall Woodstock Vermont. Come celebrate the release of her first album.

This week's podcast (SY802) is from Woodstock, in 2005, featuring Tom Kemp. Today, Tom is still acting but his main role is the VP of SAG New England. In the midst of rallies and marches to get actors back to work, Tom hosted the wedding of his son, Ian, this past week. Tom, thanks for doing the hard work for so many! Listen anywhere you podcast or head to saysyou.net and select "Listen".

CODE BLUE - SAYS YOU! SUMMER READING

Code Blue, a play by Arnie Reisman and Nat Segaloff, has just been published as part of Nat's new work BREAKING THE CODE. Otto Preminger dared to challenge the Hollywood censors over banned words such as pregnant, seductive, and virgin. In 2004 Arnie and Nat completed the script for a comedic play about the showdown. Its commentary on freedom of speech is particularly relevant now and this is the first time it has appeared in print.

Nat joined Says You! as a guest panelist on a number of shows. He stepped in to write script just after Richard Sher's death in 2015. To hear Nat and Arnie on Says You! head to wherever you podcast and select episodes SY-1418 and SY-1420. To order Breaking the Code head to Amazon, Powell's, or Bookshop.org. Enjoy!
