OPERA SOPRANO ANYA MATANOVIC TO PERFORM WITH NORTHSHIRE VOICES DECEMBER 10
On Saturday December 10 at 4 pm, Southern Vermont music lovers will be treated to a varied program of Winter Solstice and Advent music by Manchester’s very own Northshire Voices in its inaugural concert entitled Winter Serenade. It will be held at the First Congregational Church in Manchester. The local chorus will be joined for this program by international opera soprano, Anya Matanovic, as well as members of the FCC’s Chancel Choir and Tall Spire Ringers. Snow date for the concert is December 11 at 4 pm.
Ms. Matanovic will perform This Christmastide, which was written for opera diva Jessye Norman. In her debut with the Glimmerglass Festival as Micaela, Musical Criticism stated: “The lustrous quality of Matanovic’s sinuous soprano, with its golden timbre and silky-smooth legato, charmed the ears immediately”. Ms. Matanovic made her professional opera debut as Mimi in the Los Angeles engagement of Baz Luhrmann’s Tony Award-winning production of La Boheme and has since graced the stage of Seattle Opera, New Israeli Opera, Boston Lyric Opera and Santa Fe Opera, among others. She has also made notable appearances with the Cleveland Orchestra, most recently in the cast of Strauss’ Daphne as part of the Lincoln Center Festival. Anya and husband John married at Shelburne Farms in 2013 and reside in Manchester, VT.
Admission is $15 adults, 18 and under free. For advance reservations, phone the FCC at 802-362-2709. Cash payment is preferred. No credit cards. For more information about Northshire Voices, contact 802-768-8144.
