🎻 ALWAYS WITH ME — いつも何度でも (Itsumo Nando Demo)
From Hayao Miyazaki’s Spirited Away
Music by Yumi Kimura
It is our pleasure to welcome you once again to the intimate stage of Gracie’s Fine Violins for the 3rd Edition of “Evening with Dinh Minh’s Sound of Violins.”
What began as a simple evening of sharing music among friends continues as a celebration of the violin, the musicians who give it voice, and the stories that bring us together.
For this third edition, we journey through a theme close to all of our hearts:
🎬 Music Through Our Favorite Films
Long after the final scene fades from the screen, it is often the music that stays with us—a melody that brings back a place, a character, a feeling, or a moment we thought we had forgotten.
Tonight, we revisit those memories through the voice of the violin.
“Always With Me,” plays on an Antique Strad. Replica Violin Model, the beloved closing song from Spirited Away. Its gentle melody carries a sense of memory, hope, and the quiet beauty we carry with us through life.
There is something deeply shared between filmmaking, musicianship, and the art of violin making. Each begins with something raw—an idea, a piece of wood, a blank frame, a simple note—and asks for patience, discipline, imagination, and countless hours of dedication.
A filmmaker shapes images and sound into a world.
A violinist transforms notes into emotion.
A luthier carves and shapes wood until an instrument discovers its voice.
Different crafts, yet each strives toward the same ultimate purpose: to tell a story, and to make us ... feel something.
Tonight, that story is told through:
🎻 Pham Dinh Minh — Violin
🎹 Nguyen Lu Hiep — Piano

“CARRYING YOU” — From Laputa: Castle in the Sky
Music by Joe Hisaishi
Violin — Phạm Đình Minh | Piano — Nguyễn Lữ Hiệp
An Evening with Đình Minh’s Sound of Violins — 3rd Edition
Powered by Gracie’s Fine Violins | Gracie-s.com
Tonight, we invite you to let the music carry you into the sky.
From Studio Ghibli’s beloved Laputa: Castle in the Sky comes one of Joe Hisaishi’s most beautiful melodies, “Carrying You” — Kimi wo Nosete.
It is a song of longing, memory, hope, and the journey toward someone precious. Beneath its simple melody lies a timeless message: wherever life takes us, we carry with us the people, dreams, and memories that give our journey meaning.
Joe Hisaishi’s music has transcended generations and cultures. His unforgettable scores for Spirited Away, Howl’s Moving Castle, My Neighbor Totoro, and Castle in the Sky have made him one of the world’s most celebrated contemporary composers. His extraordinary popularity was recently demonstrated at the Hollywood Bowl, where his performances with the Los Angeles Philharmonic drew sold-out audiences.
Here, that musical journey arrives on our intimate stage.
Violinist Phạm Đình Minh and pianist Nguyễn Lữ Hiệp bring Carrying You to life as a conversation between two instruments—the piano creating the landscape beneath, while the violin becomes the human voice: searching, remembering, longing…and finally soaring.
There is also a third voice in tonight’s performance: the instrument itself.
Just as a musician searches for expression within every phrase, a violin maker searches for the voice hidden within the wood. Through careful arching, graduation, varnishing, and countless hours of craftsmanship, wood becomes resonance—and resonance becomes emotion.
When the artistry of the musician meets the craftsmanship of the violin maker, an instrument becomes more than an object.
It becomes a voice.
Tonight, through the artistry of Phạm Đình Minh and Nguyễn Lữ Hiệp, we invite you to follow that voice, remember someone you love, rediscover a dream…
and simply—
let the music carry you.

🎻 A Birthday Tribute to Maestro Itzhak Perlman
Today, 08/31/2026, as the world celebrates and congratulates the legendary Maestro Itzhak Perlman on his 81st birthday, we too, from our little stage in our corner of the world, would like to pay tribute to one of the greatest violinists and most inspiring musical icons of our time.
Generations of musicians have been inspired not only by Maestro Perlman’s extraordinary virtuosity, but also by a lifetime devoted to music, teaching, perseverance, and sharing his remarkable gift with the world.
Today, our young musicians offer their own humble tribute through John Williams’ Theme from Schindler’s List—a work forever associated with Maestro Perlman’s unforgettable violin performance recording and live performances.
Although the story behind Schindler’s List is far from a story of celebration, its music carries a message that reaches far beyond the notes themselves. It asks us to remember history, to value humanity, and to teach future generations so that the darkest chapters of history are never repeated.
Few violinists would dare compare themselves with Maestro Perlman’s iconic recording. Our young musicians certainly do not. Instead, they approach this masterpiece with humility—as an opportunity to learn, to remember, and to experience a piece of musical and human history through their own instruments.
Maestro Perlman’s performance has inspired so many of us to learn, to persevere, and always to strive to become better—not only as musicians, but as human beings.
From the small stage of Gracie’s Fine Violins, we are proud to encourage the next generation of musicians to pursue excellence: the young violinist continually refining the art of playing, and the violin maker continually refining the art of creating the instrument that gives that music its voice.
Two crafts. One pursuit of excellence.
From all of us at Gracie’s Fine Violins, Happy 81st Birthday, Maestro Itzhak Perlman! 🎂🎻
Thank you for the music, the inspiration, and the extraordinary legacy you continue to share with the world.
With admiration and gratitude,
Gracie’s Fine Violins
