One of the best dance studios in Carroll County, Maryland, The Ballet Slipper has been successfully owned and directed by Medora Lynn since 1974. The studio has a convenient central location in Westminster on Hersh Avenue for all Carroll County dancers! Medora is a certified teacher of the renowned international Cecchetti method of ballet which requires intensive studies and then passing of profes
sional teacher exams. The Ballet Slipper accepts dancers of all skill levels, children ages 4 through adults! Medora has studied at the Peabody institute in Baltimore, Maryland, The Washington School of Ballet, Arlington, Virginia, with Joyce Shietze of Ottawa, Canada, and with Kathleen Brown of Virginia. Prior to her ownership of the Ballet Slipper, she taught students of the embassy staff of Jakarta, Indonesia, the YMCA of Carroll County, and students from McDaniel College. The hard work that is put forth by Medora's students in each class is put on display in a magnificently choreographed recital. These recitals, which encompass three days, are extremely well attended by the community; in addition, all proceeds go directly back into our community. In the past, thousands of dollars have been given to the American Red Cross, Carroll County Public Library, and The Manchester Athletic Boosters. Several students began studying with Medora in 1971 and are continuing to dance at the Ballet slipper today! Many students have returned after graduating from college. The majority of Medora's students continue to dance for many years. Ballet Slipper students have the option of preparing for student Cecchetti Exams administered by a professional board of examiners from the Cecchetti Council of America. The Ballet Slipper also offers classes for beginner adults wishing to get healthy exercise and work on balance and body control.
