We're delighted to feature Deb Christian of GlowGirl Fibers, the colorful and imaginative fiber art of our partner artist whose work is all about adding a little sparkle to the world.
A lifelong lover of fibers, she has spent decades exploring weaving, quilting, knitting, crochet, embroidery, fabric dyeing, and more. Her current passion is creating beautiful rope vessels and bowls, blending hand-dyed rope, vibrant fabrics, and intricate stitching into one-of-a-kind pieces that are both artistic and functional.
You may also discover her whimsical crochet creations, eco-friendly reusable products, and even hear stories about her large-scale yarnbombing adventures that have transformed cars, trees, walls, and public spaces into colorful works of art!

June Artist Spotlight: Sharon Schaeffer 🧺

Off Track Art Gallery is proud to feature the beautiful basketry and woven vessels of local artist Sharon Schaeffer.
A Westminster artist, educator, and master basket maker, Sharon has been creating baskets since 1980, blending traditional weaving techniques with contemporary design. Her work reflects decades of craftsmanship, creativity, and a deep appreciation for natural materials.
Inspired by walks through the woods surrounding her farm, Sharon often incorporates found branches, natural objects, and even shed antlers into her one-of-a-kind creations. Each basket tells a story of artistry, patience, and connection to the natural world.
Sharon's work has been exhibited throughout the East Coast, and she generously shares her knowledge through basket weaving workshops and guild activities. She currently serves as President of the Central Pennsylvania Basket Weavers Guild.
In Sharon's words:
"The interplay of reed, fibers and colors become my focus when I weave. The process busies my hands, soothes my mind, and fires my imagination."

🎨 Call for Artists – Join Off Track Art Gallery & Gifts!

Off Track Art Gallery & Gifts is currently welcoming applications from talented artists interested in joining our vibrant gallery community on a consignment basis.
Located in the heart of downtown Westminster, Maryland, Off Track Art is a cooperative gallery and gift shop featuring the work of local artists and makers. Our brick-and-mortar gallery showcases a diverse collection of high-quality 2-D and 3-D artwork, including painting, jewelry, fiber arts, woodwork, mixed media, ceramics, photography, and more.
All artistic mediums are welcome through our juried process. At this time, we are especially interested in adding:
✨ A skilled woodworker creating unique, handcrafted pieces
✨ An artisan producing safe, thoughtfully designed toys for children
That said, we are always excited to discover exceptional artists working in any discipline.
We are seeking professional, productive artists whose work demonstrates originality, strong craftsmanship, and consistency. All submissions are carefully reviewed by our gallery partners to ensure a strong fit with our gallery and clientele.

Meet Our Featured Fiber Artist & off Track Art Partner: Marilyn Kroeger Smith
After retiring as an Associate Professor of Chemistry at McDaniel College, Marilyn Kroeger Smith turned her lifelong passion for sewing into a beautiful journey in fiber arts. With more than 40 years of sewing experience and over a decade devoted to quilting, Marilyn creates stunning handmade pieces filled with craftsmanship, warmth, and heart.
Her collection includes table runners, placemats, wall hangings, appliquéd pillows, tote bags, backpacks, and more — each thoughtfully designed and finished with exquisite hand-hemming and French-fold binding details. Many of her works feature charming embroidered and appliqué elements that make every piece truly one of a kind.
Beyond her artistic talents, Marilyn also gives back through Project Linus, creating quilts for children in need, and serves as secretary of the Catoctin Furnace Historical Society, helping preserve local history.
We’re proud to showcase Marilyn’s beautiful fiber art at Off Track Art. Stop in to experience her work in person and discover the care, creativity, and tradition stitched into every piece.

Tomorrow Saturday May 16th is a very special day at Off Track Art!! One not to miss… A DOUBLE HITTER Festivities are from 10-5 at 11 Liberty Street, Suite 7, in Downtown Westminster right next to the railroad tracks.

Starting at 10, we have Linda Van Harts Farewell Carroll County Trunk Show.
This will be a final opportunity for collectors, friends, and local fans to purchase in person from Linda herself, an original piece from Linda’s stunning collections before the South gets the full benefit of her incredible talents. Her wearable botanical jewelry, sculpture, and metalsmithing work have touched countless people throughout the region and beyond.
Don’t miss this chance to celebrate Linda, share your well wishes, and take home a truly unique work of art from one of Carroll County’s most treasured artists.
