Hi friends! I have a very special favor to ask! This weekend team FTBEME is partnering with The Hundley Foundation for their Lace Em’Up Epilepsy Walk! This cause is very near and dear to our hearts, as I have had several students and performers who suffer from Epilepsy, as well as my dear friend and our board president Shannon, And my kids have a very close cousin who also has Epilepsy !

Would you find a way to support us? Here’s what I need from you!

1. Join our team! Come walk with us this weekend and help us show our support in numbers! It’s going to be a great time and it’s right on the beach!!

2. Donate! We are SO close to reaching our goal!! Donate and every little bit counts !!

We can’t believe that this show opens in just 9 days! It has such a fun adventure diving deep into this beautiful script, and we are excited to perform it for a live audience. You’re sure to laugh, cry, and love every second of heart and humor! The talent and passion in this cast is unbelievable.

Free To Be Me Studio of Performing Arts welcomes you and invites performers ages 9 to 18 to audition for "13: The Musical".

Audition Dates:
Thursday May 12th (6pm-9pm) &
Tuesday May 17th (6pm-9pm)
Callback Date: May 21st

Rehearsal Schedule:
Tuesdays & Thursdays, 6-9pm,
Saturdays 9am-12pm.
(Additional rehearsals on some Wednesdays, Saturday afternoons or Sundays pending performer availability.)

Not every performer will be required at every rehearsal. Please provide conflicts later in this form for those dates you are unavailable. Rehearsals begin on May 24th and run through Wednesday June 29th.

Performance Dates:
Thursday June 30th, Friday July 1st, Saturday July 2nd and Sunday July 3rd
Newcomb Academy (subject to change)

Show Times:
Thursday & Friday - 7pm
Saturday & Sunday - 7pm (plus 2pm matinee TBD)

Auditions, callbacks and rehearsals will be held at the Free to Be Me Studio at 6772 Garden Grove Blvd, Westminster, CA 92845.

Tech Rehearsal and Performances are held at Newcomb Academy at 3351 Val Verde Ave, Long Beach, CA 90808.

We love our after school programs !

Today with our TK and kindergarten kids we were talking about confidence, posture, and stage etiquette (it’s never too early).

I love this lesson because I get to walk on stage as several different little characters and the kids give me some “tips” on how I can look more confident.

One time I walked in very reserved, covering my face, and mumbling. They all laughed at the silliness of Miss. Vanessa, so then I asked them…

“If I came on stage like that and you were in the audience, what would you be thinking?”

So many answers …

“You’re shy!”
“You’re embarrassed”
“You have stage fright”
“It’s okay… just do it!”
“You don’t like it!”
“French Friiiiiiiiieeeeeees!”

Me: “French fries?”

Them: “yes, I’m always thinking about French fries no matter what!”

Touché little girl. Touché !

So whenever you’re feeling nervous on stage… just think about French fries ! It really does help!!
