Apologies for not posting this sooner, but we just got finished setting up our lights about 15 minutes ago. As previously mentioned, our HOA, prompted by several neighbors and through their lawyer, demanded that we not turn on our full display this year.

What we have this year is a *VERY* small display of twinkling and fading lights. While there is music accompaniment on 100.1 FM, the lights are *NOT* in sequence with the music at all.

Our display is no longer the destination that it was previously, but we encourage people to come by and take a look for a few minutes if you’re in the area. We do have our donation box out and we will be accepting donations for the Make-A-Wish Foundation again this year.

Thanks everyone for your support in the recent weeks!!!

So as to stifle content that they can't control, the Village Farms HOA board has deleted their Facebook post from Monday 11/9 that outlined their 'case' against us. The majority of the comments to that post were in support of our light display and they simply couldn't have that type of dissent out there.

Several items to pass along to everyone...

1) THANK YOU for your tremendous support!! The public and private messages are truly heartwarming and prove that people really care about the Christmas season.

2) The HOA board sent out an email to Village Farms residents yesterday that contains too many inaccuracies to count. The most glaring is the insinuation that we’ve never worked with the board. Well, in a way it’s partially true. We haven’t worked with THIS board as the only communication from them has been through their lawyer. We HAVE worked with previous boards, hosting board members at our house for several hours of discussion, and we’ve made numerous concessions over the years.

3) Check out WISH-TV tonight at 10:00. They were out this afternoon to talk about our show and the issues we’re having with the current board. WTHR also wanted to talk on camera, but we felt that one TV station was enough.

4) We will have a small, static Christmas display this year without music. We’ll post more info about it in the coming weeks.

5) As we said previously, we encourage folks to remember the Make-A-Wish Foundation this Christmas season.

Again, we thank everyone for your support. We’ve read every comment and private message and feel blessed that we've become a part of people’s Christmas traditions over the years.

Attention Village Farms residents and Christmas on Victory fans - Our display has been declared a nuisance and will be dark for 2015

Through their attorney (at VF expense), your Board of Directors has threatened legal action against us should we run our display this year. Apparently our Christmas display and the goodwill it has generated for the neighborhood over the years must fly in the face of the new "Branding" they wish to create. You may have noticed a one-liner in the August newsletter's BOD Minutes about "traffic on Victory Ct. (update)". That's all the mention they chose to make public about this. Well, we're taking it public now.

You know how everyone has that "one neighbor" that can never be satisfied with anything, has to poke their nose into everything, and is in general a busy body? Well, we've got one on our cul-de-sac. We also have another neighbor on the cul-de-sac who tried to bribe me last year into not running the show, and then made threats to me about how "it would be a shame if something happened to your display". That's it. Two people. We have a lot more than two neighbors that support us, we can assure you. These two even claim to be Christian (SMG Catholic to be specific) which is laughable. So what do they do? Push the Board, who of course cower, and then their lawyer joins in. We've worked with two previous Boards, both of which have determined that no covenants were being violated by our display. Now this board and their lawyer (Tanner Law Group) dig really deep and stretch the wording and intent of the covenants. Never mind that I can identify at least half a dozen covenant violations within 1/4 mile of our house that neighbors have complained about and the Board has chosen not to enforce. Either enforce all of the covenants or none of them.

There is a meeting on November 11th from 6:00 to 8:00 at the clubhouse for VF residents to view and discuss the subdivision Long Range Plan, which includes subdivision branding. I suggest VF residents let the Board know what they think about the direction they've has already taken. If you can't make that meeting, there's a Board meeting on November 17th from 7:00 to 9:00. Beyond that, you can provide (constructive) feedback to the Board president at [email protected] and the board on general at [email protected].

Through all of this, we'll admit to one thing. We did consider not running the lights this year as it is truly such a big production, we didn't know if we had the energy to do it. Well, the Board made that decision for us.

At this point, we will ensure that videos of our display will remain on Facebook (as long as copyright issues don't block them). We'll also post a link to an alternate site that contain the videos. We want to ensure the videos live on so folks can enjoy the lights as much as we have. We also encourage fans to remember the Make-A-Wish Foundation this Christmas season and continue to provide support and donations. Finally, We also want to thank everyone for their charitable contributions over the years and all the support we've received.

Donations to the Make-A-Wish Foundation for this year totaled a whopping $5,602.86! This represents an almost 50% increase over last year. Thank you all for your generosity and support!!!

On a larger scale, over the course of the 6 years we have had our display, over $22,000 has been raised for the various charities we have selected. Thank you again for supporting these fine charities!

Remember that tonight lis out last night for this season. We have had a tremendous increase in donations to the Make-A-Wish Foundation, and we'll be posting totals tomorrow. The lights go on tonight at 6:30 and will run until about 10:00. Thank you all for your generous contributions!!

12/29/2014

The weather is beautiful tonight, and it looks like we'll have clear weather through our last night, which will be this Wednesday the 31st.

12/25/2014

All lights tested and ready to go for tonight. Please be safe and courteous out there. We'll assist with traffic as needed.

Even with the rain we had a good show last night, with only a few rain related technical issues. Special thanks go out to Stephanie for her significant donation by check last night to the Make-A-Wish Foundation. Thank you!!

Merry Christmas to all!!!

12/24/2014

We've tested lights for tonight. Fingers crossed that they continue to all work. We'll be checking from time to time over the course of the evening.

Also, please read our recent posts on traffic, courtesy, and parking. We're going to have a very busy evening so please be patient. We'll try as much as possible between dinner, presents, and desert to direct traffic.

Merry Christmas to all and remember the reason for the season. God bless!!!
