If you’re looking for a dog-friendly place for your next outing, we have tons of pawsitively fantastic hiking trails, creeks to splash in, and wilderness to explore. For pups who prefer to stay a little closer to creature comforts, our town is perfect for strolling, with many dog-friendly lodgings, outdoor patios, and shops. 🐕

So grab the leash, enjoy the trails (and smells!) of nature, and then stop by a local eatery for a much-deserved pup-cup.🍦

Looking for a beautiful, easygoing mountain ramble in the Sangre de Cristos that ends with a waterfall? ⛰️💦

Then this is the hike for you! 🥾

The Crystal Falls hike is a 6.5-mile round trip along the Rainbow Trail, with epic Wet Mountain Valley views, wildflowers, open meadows, forest, & a little waterfall at the end. 🌈🌼🌲💧

How do you get there? Glad you asked! 😉

You can access this hike from the Grape Creek Trailhead. Once at the trailhead, go north on the Rainbow Trail. You’ll cross several creek beds, most of them dry, but usually Music Creek is running. After about 3.5 miles, you’ll encounter Crystal Falls Creek. When you reach the creek, go off the Rainbow Trail & follow the little path along the creek to the left/west for about 50 feet to get to the falls.

With just 700–800 ft of elevation gain, it’s a gentle rolling hike with a new view around every bend. Bring plenty of water & sun protection! Crystal Falls is more of a peaceful mountain cascade than a roaring waterfall, but it’s a perfect spot to relax, enjoy some snacks, & soak it all in. 🏔️ Great for an early-morning adventure & well-behaved dogs (preferably on leash)! 🐾

Pretty soon the “quakies” (aka aspens) will start to change their color! 🍂 If you listen closely, you can hear the rustling of their leaves… and where they got their nickname from. 🍃

🎸 On Sunday, the High Peaks Summerfest continues, with free live music by Hogan and Moss & The Old Weird America, & get some yummy eats from Kymberz Muncheez

This weekend we have vintage aircraft ✈️, live music 🎶, and so much more!

Saturday morning is the annual SilverWest AirFest 🚁, where you and your family can enjoy vintage aircraft, live music, a pancake breakfast, vendors, and more! Saturday, August 15th at the SilverWest Airport, just 10 miles south of Westcliffe on Highway 69.

Then spend Saturday night listening to live music! 🎶

If golden-era honky-tonk and Western swing is your thing, head on over to B. Social Feedstore where The Ute Pass Playboys are performing! 🪕

If your vibe is more mountain blues and classic rock, then the Silverdome Saloon & Music Hall has you covered with a regional favorite—the House of Goo—performing! 🎸

Can’t get enough live music? Then you’re in luck because the live tunes continue on Sunday, with the FREE High Peaks Summerfest at All Aboard Westcliffe Rail Depot.

Our very own Smythe & Taylor will be performing!🎙️ You can also get yummy food onsite from “The Purple People Feeder,” Kymberz Muncheez. 😋

Lastly, if you’d like to explore your artistic talents this weekend 🎨, Greenstone Artworks is holding an intermediate painting workshop, and the Sangres Art Guild has their month-long “Celebrate Colorado” show, including the traveling quilted canvas—celebrating Colorado’s 150th birthday—on display.

Love vintage aircraft, good food, live music, and loads of family fun?! Come to the SilverWest AirFest happening on Saturday! ✈️🛸🚁

You can watch an array of vintage and modern aircraft 🛩️ take off and land, get up close to several different aircraft on display, and enjoy a pancake breakfast 🥞, live music 🎶, craft & food vendors, and special events for kids to enjoy! All under the beautiful backdrop of the Sangre de Cristo mountains. 🏔️

Gates open at 7:30am and the event goes until 3pm.

Bring the whole family to 📍Butler Field at the SilverWest Airport , only 10 miles south of Westcliffe on Highway 69.
