Meet Studio Rat! This dynamic artist collective, featuring Emily Allan and Dom Di Libero, are part of this year’s Creatives in Residence cohort.

An inflated structure overtakes the space, reaching up towards the sun. An altar of hope and a room to inhabit, “Plastiscapes” by Studio Rat explores the infinite dichotomies held within plastic that exist at odds with one another: the ancient and futuristic, mundane and magical, intimate and industrial, malleable and fixed. The artists forgo industrial forms of recycling as foraged plastics are pressed, fused, cut, and quilted, bringing disparate materials together into a coherent whole. When activated with air, plastic becomes a landscape for a speculative inquiry, exploring pasts, presents and futures of this storied material that overwhelms and presses down around us.

Join MEND, a series of nights of music, dance and gathering where Studio Rat’s “Plastiscapes" becomes a site of sound and sculpture, with DJ programming by Congrego.

Meet Timothy Yanick Hunter, one of our 2026 Creatives in Residence!

Toronto-based artist Timothy Yanick Hunter will be presenting “Playing Pictures,” an installation and performance work that combines sound, moving images, and realtime improvisation. Offering audiences insight into his creative practice, Hunter will experiment with processes of splicing and fragmenting images and exploring electronic digital and wiring systems as a way to understand human movement and diaspora. The presentation is a coalescence of Hunter’s studio experimentation and research process. A selection of printed matter from the artist will be available as takeaways

Meet Zinnia Naqvi, one of our 2026 Creatives in Residence! ✨️

For this year’s festival, Zinnia Naqvi will be presenting “Come As You Are Karaoke Night.” Inspired by Zinnia Naqvi's “Heart-Shaped Box”, a tender home video of young Pakistani sisters belting out Nirvana in their new Canadian home, this night celebrates the songs that found us before we even knew we needed them. No matter where you come from, who you love, or how long you have been here, your voice belongs in the Centre at the Forks! Bring the anthem that got you through, the one you know every word to, the one that surprised you by feeling like home.
