1ST DAY OF SCHOOL IS TOMORROW!!!
Please be mindful and account for extra time tomorrow and the rest of the week. The parking lot will be full of new high school drivers as well as very emotional parents sending their children off for the first day of school. Be kind to the crossing guards they will be helping a lot of newer drivers navigate the process and most importantly keeping everyone safe! Have an amazing school year WIZARDS!!! 🧡🖤

🎒🚌 WELCOME BACK, WEST WARWICK STUDENTS! 🚌🎒

It’s hard to believe another school year is here! The West Warwick Police Department is excited to welcome our students, teachers, staff, and families back for another great year. ❤️🖤

The first week of school can be a busy one as everyone gets back into their routines. We’re asking our entire community to slow down, stay alert, and give ourselves a little extra time.

🚍 Watch for school buses and bus stops — Be patient, stay alert, and remember that flashing school bus lights and stop arms mean STOP!

⏰ Leave a little earlier — Give yourself some extra time in the morning and afternoon. A few extra minutes can make the commute safer and less stressful.

🚶 Watch for pedestrians — Keep an eye out for students walking and crossing the street. Slow down, stay focused, and always yield when required.

🚗 Slow down in school zones — Pay attention to posted speed limits, crossing areas, traffic patterns, and the increased activity around our schools.

Most importantly, let’s look out for one another. Our students are our community, and their safety is something we all share responsibility for.

⚠️ NOTICE: ENFORCEMENT AT TOWN PARKS & RECREATIONAL FACILITIES ⚠️

The West Warwick Police Department has received numerous complaints regarding the operation of e-bikes, e-scooters, electric motorcycles, mini-bikes, dirt bikes, and other motorized or unregisterable vehicles within our town parks and recreational facilities—particularly at Riverpoint Park and the basketball courts.

This behavior has become a significant safety concern for children, families, pedestrians, and those using these facilities as intended.

Effective immediately, enforcement will be stepped up.

Any person found operating an e-bike, e-scooter, electric motorcycle, mini-bike, dirt bike, or any other motorized or unregisterable vehicle within a town park or recreational facility will be cited under the Town Ordinance. In addition, the vehicle will be towed at the owner's expense.

The Town Ordinance is clear:

🚫 Motor vehicles of any type or kind are prohibited on recreational facilities, athletic fields, basketball courts, playgrounds, and similar areas. Motor vehicles must remain in designated parking areas.

Additionally, please remember that Town sport and recreation facilities are closed after sunset or one-half hour following the completion of a scheduled activity, unless a written permit has been issued by the Parks & Recreation Department.

These rules exist to keep our parks safe and enjoyable for everyone—not to inconvenience responsible users.

Parents, we ask that you speak with your children about these regulations before they head to our parks. A simple conversation today can prevent an expensive tow and citation tomorrow.
