One of my favorite parts of event photography is capturing the moments people don't even realize are happening. ❤️

The laughs, the dancing, the friends who haven't seen each other in forever, the kids soaking it all in, and the memories being made without anyone looking at the camera.

As the 2026 Fayette County Fair comes to a close, I want to give a HUGE thank you to the incredible group of volunteers who make it all possible.

The Fair Board and committee members are volunteers. They don't do this for recognition or praise. They do it because they believe in this fair, this community, and the memories it creates.

Many of them grew up right here—showing livestock, riding the carnival rides, spending summers at the fairgrounds, and making the same memories that today's kids are making. Now, they're giving back so the next generation can experience that same magic.

They're the ones spending countless evenings in meetings. They're the ones knocking on doors and calling local businesses to secure sponsorships. They donate their own time, equipment, talents, and often even their own money. They're the first to arrive, the last to leave, and the ones quietly solving problems behind the scenes before most people ever know they existed.

They are the planners. The problem solvers. The "we'll figure it out" team. The boots on the ground who pour their hearts into making sure everyone else has a place to make memories.

If there's one thing this week reminds us, it's that great community events don't happen by accident—they happen because people choose to step up. If you've ever found yourself with an idea, a concern, or simply a love for this fair, we'd love to have you join us. This fair has always been built by volunteers, and there's always room for more people who want to make a difference. On the flip side, the best way to improve the fair isn’t by offering criticism from the sidelines - it’s by joining the team. 😉

If you laughed with friends, watched your kids light up on the midway, cheered from the grandstands, or simply enjoyed a week at the fair, know that it happened because a dedicated group of volunteers chose to give their time so others could enjoy theirs.
