My Halloween party essentials 🧙🏼♀️🔮:
Step 1. Pick a theme! Not just “Halloween”. Pick a theme like Witches’ Night In that will be relatively easy to decorate and dress for (guest can just wear all black).
Step 1.5. Send out an invitation to the group chat! I have a customizable Witches’ Night In Canva template on SALE on Etsy. Just search for my shop “Emma Rae Designs Shop”.
Step 2. Gather your table decor. Use what you’ve got or thrift it! I love thrifted glass jars filled with plant cuttings or dried flowers. Break out your old rock or crystal collection. Bring out the candles or fun glassware you’ve collected over the years. A black table cloth with simple candles can transform a party!
Step 3. Themed appetizers. This is something you can absolutely ask your guests to bring! Or use the opportunity to bring those Instagram reels you’ve been saving to life.
Step 4. Signature drink. This is one of my favorite parts of throwing a party! If it’s a small group, the drink can be made in front of the guests. I had all the ingredients in test tubes and mixed drinks on the spot. If you’re serving a large group, try a “build your own” cocktail station or create a big batch in a pitcher and have guests choose their garnishes.
Step 5. Serve cozy food! Since it’s fall, go with an easy, warm main dish that you can make in the crock pot or instant pot.
Step 6. Have a fun dessert. I had guests make their own color changing hot chocolate and it was so fun! I just made homemade whipped cream to go with it.
Step 7. Do an activity. I truly think an activity really elevates the party experience, especially for a small group. Pick up some succulents, preserved moss, and a hot glue gun and ask your guests to bring over a small pumpkin. Then you have everything you need to make succulent pumpkins! As long as you don’t puncture the outside, the pumpkins will last months!
