Throwback Thursday to a pivotal moment in Thayer history: the removal of the railroad turntable that once kept the region moving and connected. For generations, this piece of infrastructure symbolized the importance of rail in shaping the Ozarks—linking communities, supporting industry, and anchoring local identity. New research suggests that staying connected to the arts isn’t just good for the soul—it may help your body age better, too. From music and theater to museums and creative hobbies, cultural engagement could be linked to a slower pace of biological aging.

Another reason to keep creativity at the center of our lives—and our communities.

Looking to get involved? Visit the Ozarks Heritage Research Center and join us for engaging programs, exhibits, and events that celebrate the rich cultural heritage of our region. We’d love to see you there!
