BIO I’ll always be grateful for my mother’s “early and often” encouragement of my artistic nature. In reflecting about being the daughter of an artist, I realized that she was also the “angel investor” who helped catapult me from hobbyist to professional jeweler in the late 80’s when I first sold my jewelry line to boutiques in San Francisco. While living in San Francisco I also began my love affair with horticulture and ethnobotany, which ultimately lead me and my creativity to working in public gardens.
After receiving my graduate degree in Public Horticulture Administration and Non-Profit Museum Management in the early 90’s, I was fortunate to spend more than fifteen years working in some of our nation’s foremost botanical gardens creating landscapes, exhibitions and festivals to highlight the multicultural uses of plants for art, music, medicine, and ritual. Mother Nature’s exquisite designs inspired me to collect fallen seeds, cones and branches which I combined with beads to create my earliest mixed media mobiles.
Ten years ago I came upon a pair of smashed eye glass frames in a parking lot and they became my first mixed media assemblage mobile. For over a decade I’ve collected discarded and precious materials - vintage tools, machine parts, manufacturing remnants, garden trimmings, mineral stones, and beads from around the world - to create one-of-a-kind artworks. No two Elayna Toby pieces are ever the same.
I use only “cold connections” in creating my assemblage mobiles and jewelry. I never use heat or a flame to join pieces together. No welding or soldering for me! Instead, I use wrapping and knotting techniques, along with fishing swivels and metal links, to connect one object to another. In the ebb and flow of life my artistry has come full circle and less than a year ago I also began incorporating found objects into my jewelry line, Wash & Wear.
For the past eight years, along with my studio art practice, I’ve had the great pleasure of directing Palm Beach County’s Art in Public Places program. In this capacity I work with artists to integrate architectural scale artworks into County buildings, parks and plazas. I also manage and curate the permanent and changing exhibitions at the Palm Beach International Airport.

ARTIST STATEMENT I have always felt compelled to communicate my views regarding the human condition. The human figure has always been the central focal point of my work. My objective as an artist is to convey visually what is inside the mind, and the influence of society on the individual. My sculpture is an investigation into materials, and how they interact and juxtapose each other. It is my hope that the viewer will join me in delving deeper into the human psyche through the medium of sculpture Orlando Chiang

Having always lived near the sea, Ms. Gilbert paints of the beauty and the emotions of the ocean, often using elements of the beach as media. She appreciates the freshness of knife painting in oils and acrylic. Her murals can be seen in fine homes throughout the Palm Beaches.

We shot for the moon at Art Basel and we just can’t wait to show you our new episode featuring local and international artists.
We are packing so much action in this episode that you will not want to miss it!
We started at the penthouse of the Faena Miami Beach with Carole Crist, the former First Lady of Florida, entrepreneur, and philanthropist. This event aimed to rebuild the Island of Enchantment, also known as Puerto Rico. 🏝🏔We met wonderful artists, entrepreneurs, and musicians all with the common bond of a love for Puerto Rico. ❤️🇵🇷
Next, we hit up the SCOPE Art Show. We interviewed the likes of Dulk at Thinkspace Projects, Porktomic at Parlor Gallery, Rod Art Factory, Delita Martin with Galerie Myrtis. We learned about dekLart and his unique eye for vibrant colors. 🎨👌
In the evening we checked out the VIP pop up with the The Crown Collectiongallery at Hyde AmericanAirlines Arenaarena and peeped the release of all new Fin Des Temps pieces. 💍👑💎
Last but not least, we popped over to the Wynwood Walls and chatted with Ian from GGA Gallery at the Wynwood Walls about artists like Tristan Eaton, Obey Giant, Risk Rock, and Eduardo Kobra! We were absolutely blown away by all of the talent in one place.
Another Basel highlight? Running into Lenny Kravitz coming off the elevator at the Faena. But that’s a story for another time 🤗
Make sure you also stayed tuned for our segment coming soon with local gallery Studio 1608 where we feature Bane, Ezra Hubbard and Adam Dolle Studiol.

@ Art Basel 2019
We had a great time filming on Saturday at a fantastic art show at Studio 1608 featuring Adam Dolle Studio, Charles Arthur Bane III and Ezra Hubbard.
Then we headed to the Norton Museum of Art to capture the Party Animal event with Young Friends at Peggy Adams! The committee and co-chairs pulled out all the stops to create a show stopping event that raised over $100,000 for Peggy Adams Animal Rescue League! Art and animals are our two favorite things. We can wait to show you the footage later this week! Stay tuned! 🎨🐶💕
#1608
Community Partners is thrilled to be partnering with artist Charles Bane and Studio 1608 for an art show on Saturday, November 26.

Please come out and enjoy light bites, cocktails and art from over 40 artists working in a variety of mediums.

If you’re looking for a gorgeous and unique piece for your home or to give as a gift, you will find it here! Proceeds of sales will go towards Changing The Odds for Palm Beach County’s children and families.

We hope to see you there!
