We are creating a warm supportive home-like environment that is nuturing for both the child and adults. It is a place where the parents and /or caregivers come together on a weekly basis to connect with others with young children under 3 years old. Children learn through imitation and at “The Magic Acorn” children will engage in work and play and songs in a place worthy of imitation. Parents will be involved in purposeful activity and learn simple crafts, while observing their children’s growth and development as they play nearby. Using Waldorf and Nature based principles in the Natural setting, we will have nature and rhythm of the Seasons being a big part of the program. We will incorporate both of these things through our activities and farm walks. We will have a gentle daily schedule which will include teacher led songs, poems, movement games and art, free play a nutritious snack, crafts and interaction with the animals. We will also include time for outside play.

There is a limited amount of spots available. The classes will be formed on a first come basis.

In my heart, I still feel and believe that there is a need for a space where childhood is cherished and protected and parents can gathering in a beautiful setting that encourages the imagination of both child and adult, It is with great sadness and acceptance that I will be closing this chapter and the doors to The Magic Acorn. If at some point, I find another space I will keep you informed. If anyone knows of an opportunity, for this to flourish, please keep me in mind and let me know.

I am wondering if anyone knows of someone starting an in-home daycare or home-school or pre-school group that might be in need of some of the items that I have at my school. I am also wondering if anyone knows of a pre-school that is looking for a

January is a time for new beginnings, and resolutions. I decided that if I want to have a new beginning, I need to resolve to let go of The Magic Acorn Program. It is after many months of thoughts and conversations and grieving the thought of letting this go that I feel that I am ready. This has been a huge part of my life, and as much as I love this program and the wonderful families and beautiful children that I have had the privilege of meeting. I have to do what is right and most helpful to my own beautiful family. I will be hosting DROP-IN's this week from 9:30 AM - 1:30 PM on Wednesday, Thursday and Friday. I would like to host a pot-luck possibly next Monday 1/16/12 (MLK day). Please RSVP if you are interested by this Friday for the Pot-luck with how many will be attending, and what kind of dish you will be bringing.

I would be happy to host the DROP-IN today. The hours will be from 9:30 AM - 1:30 PM (doors close at 1:00 if not already there). If you have asked about things from the toy sale that I have put aside, please try to make an effort to stop by today to claim them.
