He was born in Pennsylvania. He grew up in the suburbs of Dallas. He hauled sheetrock to job sites for a living. Then he built the most dominant stock contracting program in the history of professional rodeo.

Born in Pennsylvania and raised in the suburbs of Dallas Texas, Pete Carr came from about as far outside the rodeo world as a person can get and still end up running the most celebrated bucking stock program in America. He competed as a ba****ck rider in his twenties — chasing the dream the way all young cowboys do — before his competitive career was cut short. He said he loved the rodeo and like so many others when it was over all his friends and family were in the industry so he stayed. He just found a different way in.

He went into construction. Started at the bottom hauling sheetrock to job sites — the least glamorous entry point imaginable. He worked his way up by learning every aspect of the trade. Then project manager. Then company leadership. Then owner of Resource Commercial Construction — a successful national commercial construction company built without a college degree and without a shortcut. The same discipline and attention to detail that would eventually produce world champion bucking horses was being sharpened on a construction site in Texas.

Then in 2003 he purchased Classic Pro Rodeo from Scotty Lovelace and founded Pete Carr Pro Rodeo. He didn't start small. He started at the professional level and kept buying and building from there — purchasing additional companies and genetics and animals the same way he had built a construction empire. One carefully considered decision at a time.

His first World Champion bucking horse was Real Deal — a big bay who won the title in 2005. Then came Dirty Jacket — Ba****ck Horse of the Year in 2014 and 2015, eight-time NFR selection and one of the most celebrated bucking horses in the modern era. Then Bayou Bengal — 2023 Bucking Bull of the Year — a bull so dominant that cowboys who drew his name felt it in their chest before they ever climbed the chute.

In 2022 he sent twenty six head of livestock to the National Finals Rodeo — more than any other stock contractor in the entire sport. In 2025 he did it again with twenty two head. More NFR selections than any contractor. Year after year. The standard everyone else measures themselves against.

Seventeen PRCA Stock Contractor of the Year nominations. The 2021 WPRA Stock Contractor of the Year. The 2025 Extreme Bull Stock Contractor of the Year — second time earning that honor. Inducted into the Texas Cowboy Hall of Fame in the Class of 2026.

He said the hardest part for the horses wasn't the bucking. They were bred for that. They loved it the way a racehorse loves to run. The hard part was the hauling — the trailer, the travel, the road. He built a program that took care of them because of that. Because he understood.

Faith and family came first. The animals came next. The sport came right alongside both.

A sheetrock hauler from the suburbs of Dallas. The most dominant bucking stock program professional rodeo has ever seen.

That is Pete Carr. 🤠🐴🏆
