🦎 We’re looking to add a few more foster homes to our crew!

➡️Fostering is one of the most impactful ways you can help animals, without making a lifelong commitment.

When a reptile comes into our care, they often need a safe place to decompress while they wait for their forever home. That’s where our foster families come in.

As a WEAR foster, you provide the home, and we provide the support.

💚 We supply the enclosure and equipment (when needed), food, and veterinary care.
💚 We handle adoption applications, screening, and finding the right permanent home.
💚 You provide daily care, love, and updates so we can share their journey.

Many of our reptiles stay in foster care for just a few weeks, while others may need a little longer depending on their needs. We’ll always work with you to find a placement that fits your experience, comfort level, and schedule.

You don’t need to be an expert on every reptile species, we can go one at a time. We simply ask that our fosters communicate with us, be reliable, and be willing to open their home to an animal that needs a second chance. Bonus points if you’re cool and flexible. We are so thankful for our go-with-the-flow foster team.

Every foster home means one more life we can save.

If you’ve been looking for a meaningful way to make a difference for reptiles in Ocean or Monmouth County, we’d love to connect! 🦎❤️

Apply through the foster application linked in this post, or email us at [email protected] with any questions.

This morning, the Mantoloking Police Department assisted Marine veteran Nick Beadles as he made his way through the tiny borough of Mantoloking on an incredible journey across America.

Nick is walking from Portland, Maine, to Portland, Oregon to raise awareness about mental health, encourage open conversations, and remind those who are struggling that they are never alone. His mission is to inspire hope, break the stigma surrounding mental health, and support veterans, first responders, and anyone facing life's challenges.

Nick is collecting police patches along the way and we were happy to meet with Nick and present him with one of our patches as he makes his journey. Best of Luck Nick and stay safe on your journey across the country!

💙 If you or someone you know is struggling, remember that help is available. Reaching out is a sign of strength, and no one has to face their challenges alone.

⏳✨ ADHD “Waiting Mode” ✨⏳

You have something to do later…
And somehow your brain cancels the entire day before it even starts.

Suddenly you’re just… waiting.
Frozen.
Unable to start anything.

It’s not laziness.
It’s not a motivation problem.
It’s not that you “don’t want” to do anything.

It’s often ADHD.

Here’s what’s really happening 🧠👇

• Time blindness → “Later” feels like “soon,” so your brain won’t commit to anything else.
• Transition struggles → Starting one task knowing you’ll have to stop it feels overwhelming.
• Anxiety about forgetting or being late → Your brain stays on high alert so you don’t miss the thing.

So you wait.
And wait.
And scroll.
And feel bad about it.

If this is you, try experimenting with:

⏰ Set a “start getting ready” timer
Give your brain a clear cue for when the transition begins.

📝 Plan one tiny task before the event
Something small + finishable (fold laundry, send one email, unload dishwasher).

🕒 Create a buffer window
Tell yourself: “As long as I start getting ready at 3:30, I’m good.”
This gives your nervous system permission to relax.

ADHD waiting mode isn’t a character flaw.
It’s a nervous system + executive functioning pattern.

And patterns can be supported. 💛

Sometimes the hardest part of a task… is starting.

When something feels boring, overwhelming, or effortful, our brain naturally looks for an escape. That doesn’t mean you’re lazy — it means you’re human.

✨ Temptation bundling is a simple way to work with your brain instead of against it.

Pair something you need to do with something you enjoy:
☕ favorite coffee + admin
🎧 audiobook + cleaning
🕯 cozy vibes + paperwork
🚶‍♀️ podcast + movement

Over time, your brain starts to associate the task with something pleasant — reducing resistance and making follow-through easier.

This isn’t about productivity perfection.
It’s about reducing friction and creating sustainable habits.

You’re allowed to make hard things easier 💛
