Buffalo Herd Apprenticeship Opportunity with ITBC 🦬

Take part in an incredible opportunity to work with buffalo and contribute to tribal restoration efforts! The InterTribal Buffalo Council (ITBC) is now accepting applications for its Buffalo Herd Apprenticeship Program, starting February 2025.

Position Details:
• Salary: $20/hour for 18 months (25-30 hrs/week). ITBC covers wages during work with tribal herd programs.
• Gain hands-on experience in buffalo herd management under expert mentorship.
• Travel and flexible scheduling required (50-60 hrs over two weeks, 3-4 days/month).

Qualifications:
• Must be 18+ with a high school diploma or GED.
• Current driver’s license, auto insurance, and reliable transportation.
• Physically able to lift 50 lbs and work outdoors.
• Tribal membership preference given.
• Interest in tribal buffalo restoration and prior experience in natural resources or related fields preferred.

Application Requirements:
• Letter of recommendation from a Tribal Buffalo Herd Manager.
• Letter of qualifications.
• Completed ITBC Job Application.

Deadline to Apply: January 15th, 2025.
Start Date: February 2025.

In honor of National Eagles Day, June 20th, here's a lovely story about a father eagle's triumph raising two eaglets despite the loss of the mother months ago. Apparently both eaglets survived and fledged. Amazing.
