We hold the fiddler's convention to raise money to support our Ashe County Junior Appalachian Musicians program and we enjoyed having some of those students perform as part of the Friday night concert!

🎙 The 580 WKSK Old Time and Bluegrass Radio Show goes live from the Ashe County Fiddlers Convention on Saturday, July 26 at 11 AM—featuring a special performance by youth artist Tucker Conner.

A standout from the Boone Junior Appalachian Musicians (JAM) program and a 2025 Merlefest Ambassador, Tucker is already turning heads with his skill on banjo, guitar, and vocals. His passion for mountain music shines through every note.

Catch the show live on 580 WKSK or come enjoy it in person at Ashe Park. Proceeds benefit the Ashe County JAM program, helping pass the tradition to the next generation—like Tucker.

Day tickets to the Fiddlers Convention are $10, available at the gate. Children 12 & under free.

We’re kicking off this weekend with a powerhouse concert featuring Sassafras and the New Ballard’s Branch Bogtrotters — two bands that capture the heart and soul of Appalachian roots music.

Friday, July 25:

5:45 PM – The evening opens with a special performance by Ashe County JAM students, showcasing the next generation of traditional musicians.

6:30 PM – Sassafras brings tight harmonies and high-energy bluegrass with a fresh twist. Their blend of folk, swing, and Newgrass is not to be missed!

7:30 PM – The New Ballard’s Branch Bogtrotters take the stage with foot-stomping old-time tunes led by National Heritage Fellow Eddie Bond. Straight from Galax, VA, they’re legends for a reason!

Bring your lawn chairs, settle in, and support the Ashe County JAM program while enjoying one of the best nights of the summer.

Tickets available online and at the gate! $10/day and $15/weekend. Tickets can be purchased at the gate during the convention, cash or check only! We look forward to seeing you there!
