This weekend, the Amfran Entertainment film Brix And The Bitch - Short Film was given the distinction of two awards at the Connect Film Festival!

(1) The Bechdel Award, Honoring Nuanced Female Characters
(2) Best Female Actor - Alex Marshall-Brown

Best Picture
Best Cinematography - John Gardiner
Best Female Actor - Dre Swain

The Bechdel Award is a particular honor, as it sheds light on how seldom we see films about truly compelling and independent women. For those unfamiliar, the Bechdel Test states that (1) the film has to have at least two women in it (preferably named), who (2) speak to each other, about (3) something other than a man. It sounds surprisingly simple... but think of your favorite films and see if they actually pass the test. There's no reason for any film not to pass the Bechdel, and its something our team strives for with every project. So thank you Connect Film Festival for the award!
