If your shots look flat, this is the easiest fix.

Backlight.

One simple light behind your subject instantly creates depth, separation, and that cinematic look filmmakers chase.

And the best part?
You do not need expensive gear.

A cheap light…
A lamp…
Even sunlight through a window can create beautiful backlighting.

Small lighting changes = huge visual difference.

What a night, it is an honor to win Best SFX/VFX of the year for Memoria Obscura for 2025. Thank you for hosting an amazing festival where I met so many talented filmmakers and new friends.

This award is shared with and for it would not be possible without collaboration and the time we spent making the film.

There is much more to come this year from our team, we look forward to the films ahead.

In 2011 I set out to make a neo city western in the spirit and inspiration of Robert Rodriguez’s “El Mariachi” using the San Fernando Valley as our set.

We used 3 cameras, Canon’s Mini HD XH A1 (same camera used for “Crank” 2006) and their new Canon 7D (I feel old) as well as the GO Pro Hero that I got for my birthday.

We used them all in any way that we could.

The camera matters in how you use it, not in the sensor, or dynamic range. Pick up the camera and shoot what you feel, explore and learn. Hell, your mistakes might even be gold when you start to edit.

These cameras served us well.

are proud to be apart of the San Diego Short Film Festival and to be nominated in 5 categories. Much appreciation to all that have been apart of the making of this film and to everyone who has liked and followed, thank you. We want to make films and art that we love and that we know others will enjoy, just as much as we do.

If you’re in town for the festival, tickets are still available, we’re in Block II of the festival this Saturday, ticket link in my bio.

I try to get in front of technology as much as I can. Having ideas in your head for years can make you go crazy. But when there are advancements in creation, no better time than to try to get those ideas out of your head.

Steel Reef is thing I did for fun and it got some attention from the goal is to expand on this and many other ideas and stories.

This is one of many things that I have been working on.

A traditional film teaser will be coming out any day now.

Oscars 97

Not the day of, but the day before is pretty neat too. As much fun as this is the day before, it’s pretty hectic the day of. I was here for the 2017 Oscars, fun time in chaos.

My fiancé and I wrote and produced it. We had the help of friends and family, be apart of it.

Been a while since I’ve post some cinematography. Here are some of my favorite shots from music video for “Material World” directed and produced by

This was a fun shoot, we did lots of location scouting to see where would best capture Los Angeles in a way that isn’t really seen and I’d say we did just that.

We borrowed a lot of locations.

I used my Pocket 6K with a vintage 35mm and a 10mm-22mm for this shoot as well as a haze filter to give a filmic glow on the footage.

as always killed it with camera support and driving our production car down Hollywood Blvd so we could get our shot.

More to come from this amazing team of artist. Stay tuned.
