🌸 A Little Coloring Time 🌸

I spent some time today coloring these floral images with my Stampin' Blends.

They're actually part of an upcoming In Color Club project, so I can't share the finished card just yet—my club members get to see it first! 😉 Watch for the reveal next week.

I do have to admit, I find coloring incredibly relaxing.

How about you? What's your favorite crafty way to unwind?

✨ One Layout… Endless Possibilities ✨

That’s the beauty of card layouts.

It’s amazing how one simple sketch can spark so many completely different ideas. Whilst the layout may stay the same, switching the papers, shapes, elements, and embellishments gives you a completely different card, feel, and focus.

The very same layout could become:
🌸 A cheerful floral birthday card for your Aunt Sally, who loves gardening and spending time among the flowers
🎣 A peaceful lakeside card for your favorite cousin Bob who loves fishing and the outdoors

Don’t stop at making just one card… once you start, keep going and see where that one layout leads you!

✨ From Sketch to Card ✨

Here’s one of the layouts from my earlier post put into action.

Starting with the same sketch, I created these two very different cards simply by changing the papers, colors and elements.

These cards were actually created last year, but that's the beauty of layouts—you can pull out a sketch you've used before and recreate it with whatever supplies you have in your stash today.

Can you see how the sketch translated into the finished cards?

✨ Let’s Talk About Layouts… ✨

Card layouts really are one of the best creative tools to have in your back pocket.

Feeling stuck? Start with a layout.
Need something quick and simple? Layouts help with that too.

One simple design can be transformed over and over just by switching out:
✨ Papers
✨ Colors
✨ Sentiments
✨ Shapes
✨ Embellishments

I also think it’s such a great idea to keep layouts to refer back to. Sketch them in a notebook, save photos in an album on your phone, or even create a little “layout recipe box” with index cards to flip through when inspiration is lacking.

Sometimes inspiration is simply having a starting point ready to go.

How do you save your favorite layouts and sketches?

✨ Keep It Simple… or Step It Up! ✨

What I love about a simple layout is that it gives you the perfect starting point to add all those extra little details if you want to.

On my card, I framed the designer series paper with an additional cardstock layer just 1/16" larger, then distressed the edges of both layers for extra texture. I wrapped White Baker’s Twine around the card and added a bow for a soft finishing touch.

The paper pack included ephemera pieces too—perfect for adding a little flourish without any extra cutting or stamping.

I also heat embossed the sentiment, punched the ends of the sentiment strip with an old punch from my stash, added a few gems… and of course decorated the inside too using leftover scraps of DSP.

It’s those little finishing touches that really bring a card to life.
