Happy end of the school year everyone!! It has been quite a year, but we made it! ESS STUDENT ARTISTS never ceased to amaze me with their ability to adapt, create and stay positive during this challenging year. We started our journey in art learning from a cart and in regular classrooms, and mid year we were able to finally have art class in the art room! It was a little strange, we had desks six feet apart and we couldn't share supplies, but we did it! Some of us had to learn solely remotely which posed many challenges. Others came to school and at a few points in the year did have to learn art from the screen, which was hard and something new that we had never experienced. I am so thankful for having a job that has made me laugh and brought some joy and positivity to my life during these crazy times. After sorting through a thousand artworks today..no joke, I hope everyone was pleased with their yearly artwork sent home. We created and learned so much! Here's to shaking off the 2020-2021 school year and dancing into a much needed summer break for all...parents/families, school staff, students, and teachers!

Congratulations ESS Art Students!

1st graders have been having a wooly good time creating our sheep and learning about the shearing process!! Today we read, "Farmer Brown Shears His Sheep" by, Teri Sloat and Illustrated by, Nadine Bernard Westcott. We saw pictures of Cheviot and Icelandic Sheep and got to use real wool from these Sheep to add to our mixed media sheep landscapes. This is an adapted DSS LESSON. I just love some of the expressions on these sheep faces!

ESS 3rd and 4th graders have been riding the wave into Spring Break this week! This is a DSS inspired project based on a Caribbean Wave. Students used their creative license to create a wave in their own personal vacation spot. Some wanted a tropical scene while others chose to vacation off of the coast of Maine. I love the rainbow waters in some of these scenes...truly an art teachers paradise!

Bass Pro Shops has a Fish Art Contest they sponsor every year. These are a few of my third grade student artworks! These students are contemplating whether or not to submit them to the national contest. What do you think?! I KNOW they are amazing! One little guy said, "Mrs. Tea, this is my best drawing I have ever made."...that is special.

Good work 3rd and 4th graders!!!!

This was a great lesson to start out the year with because it gave me a chance to see what the kiddos look like underneath those masks. We also created these gorgeous artworks from Mrs.Tea's cARTwork mobile!!
