We are saddened and disheartened by the events happening on our ancestral homelands.

Tovaangar means “the world” in our ancestral language and we recognize how this place has now become home and a place of refuge for many migrant communities from around the world.

Whether genocide happened 500 years ago or it is occurring in modern times, we know that our communities are stronger when we align to fight for what is right in our country.

The time to unite is now. The most vulnerable communities are the backbone of Los Angeles

Though we are sovereign peoples with deep historical ties to this land, we recognize the striking similarities between our lived experiences and those of undocumented individuals who now face systemic surveillance, detention, and displacement.

Los Angeles has already faced so much devastation since the beginning of this year and what our communities need more than ever right now are support and healing. If you are protesting, be safe. If you can’t help in person, speak up for what’s right. If you are an ally and have a disposable income, please support the various organizations and campaigns helping those who have been detained.

We cannot stay silent. We cannot give in to this unlawful oppression.

Neshuun’e mochoova xaa (my heart is with you)

THE PETITION FOR A RESILIENT L.A.

Our beautiful ancestral home has experienced devastation the last few weeks in ways we haven't seen in our lifetime. Our relatives in all lifeforms have been affected and the loss is being felt by those who love this city/county.

Through the hurt and sorrow comes an awakening that is now manifesting into a call to action. These horrific fires has shown we need a better way to protect our communities, our environment, and our relatives of all forms.

We have co-sponsored a petition along with Anawakalmekak, Cullors, Lauren Bon / Metabolic Studio, and the Chief Ya'anna Vera Rocha Regenerative Learning Village to call on our leaders and officials to actual make REAL change to protect us.

Sign the petition at
