Our next Steel Guitar Convention event is coming up! The Country Jamboree will feature amazing steel players accompanied by the Bob Strickland Band. Come to hear the music and dance! Admission is a $15 donation.

The South Carolina Steel Guitar Convention planners are seeking input to improve the experience for the audience and the players.

Attendance at the shows have fallen off since right before COVID. Attempts to get the word out to interested individuals has not been successful.

So we need your feedback.

1. Is Sunday a bad day to have the show?

2. Is the time from 11 a.m. too early or should it be later in the day?

3. Would Saturday be a better day?

4. Is twice a year too often or should it be just once a year?

5. Is Bill’s Music Shop in W. Columbia a good venue?

6. Has Steel Guitar run it’s course? Should we continue?

Any and all feedback is appreciated for us to make a determination to continue to offer this event. Without the audience we cannot continue to ask the players to come and perform.

These great guys and I, The Front Porch Boys, played a gig at Laurel Crest Retirement home yesterday afternoon. Fun time entertaining some worthy listeners. I met a fellow submariner off USS Redfin.

We had a great show! I am pleased with the results.

Mike Sweeney facilitated an impressive workshop with 7 attendees. Mike always does a great job and introduces the more advanced techniques most of us don't think of, but were developed by the masters of the instrument, like Buddy Emmons, Hal Rugg, John 'Pappa' Huey, and others.

WIS10 TV and WLTX19 TV both sent reporters who reported on the show as well as posted on the 11 PM news feed on Sunday. I already have feedback from some who saw the feed and are inquiring about our November show (date to be determined).

The South Carolina Steel Guitar Convention rolled back into the Palmetto State Sunday, as musicians, and really anyone with the urge to play some tunes, banded together.

Well, It's almost here! The May 2024 SC Steel Guitar Convention. If you don't have plans to attend you will miss a good one.

SC Steel Show May 2024 -

Another update reminder of our upcoming show in May, May 18 -19.

Mike Sweeney will be putting on a workshop, with instruments on May 18th. Sign up and pay early to ensure a spot for $50/person (good deal for 3 hour lesson). Walk-ins will be charged $60. This is to ensure you have adequate room and setup for maximum training. We already have a few people confirmed.
