I normally don’t promote new releases through posts, but dammit I feel like I’ve earned this one. My band put out an album last night that I’ve put more work into than anything I’ve done in my entire life. We’re a bit scattered at the moment but we will always be a West Chester band and, in so many ways, The Crane Game is a West Chester album. You might have noticed that the forum hasn’t been as active lately. Among other things, this is because I’m in the middle of moving to Brooklyn, where I’ll be for the next year or so. I’m still going to be running the account, but given the fact that it might be harder to stay in touch with the day-to-day goings on of the WC music scene, I’ve finally decided to bite the bullet and look for some help running this account and developing the next issue of the almanac. This week’s featured artist is…Carly Cosgrove! For the two people that follow this page and don’t know who Carly Cosgrove is, this self-proclaimed “nostalgiacore” power trio based on the works of Miranda Cosgrove is one of the biggest DIY acts in recent years to come from the Philly suburbs (West Chester/Downingtown’s claim to fame being drummer Lucas Nailor, also of local bands TIEM and Daydrunks). Founded in 2018, Carly Cosgrove shows no signs of slowing, having recently appeared in the DIY Superbowl, a July show that achieved instant legend status.
