Words cannot describe the loss, felt for an amazing teacher, dancer, and all-around person. Because of her, I am a much better ballet teacher and all of my students know how to properly tie their pointe shoes. The dance world has lost a great contributor and much too young.

It is with deep sadness that we share the passing of Professor Judy Rice, a treasured member of our SMTD community since joining the faculty in 1990. An outstanding educator, Professor Rice was the inaugural recipient of the SMTD Teaching Excellence Award.

We express our heartfelt condolences to her family and friends and welcome any fond memories of Professor Rice in the comments below.
