Lima American Legion Post 282

🎮 Last weekend, Regiment 282 was proud to be part of the Lima Crossroads Festival, setting up our gaming space to share what we're all about with the community.

Throughout the weekend, veterans, Legion members, and community members stopped by to check out the setup, ask questions, and see how gaming is helping us build connections and fight veteran isolation.

A huge thank you to everyone who stopped by to support us, play a game, or simply learn more about the mission. Every conversation helps us reach another veteran who may need a place to belong.

If you're a veteran looking for a new way to connect, we'd love to have you join us.

Last week, members of Regiment 282 took part in the Lima Bean 5K during the Lima Crossroads Festival. Our group walked the course together, proudly carrying an American flag and two Regiment flags from start to finish. One member completed the walk in military boots, while another carried a 50-pound pack!
A reminder that, for many veterans, embracing a challenge and looking out for the person beside you never really goes away.

A huge thank you to everyone who helped organize the event. The Lima Bean 5K is always exceptionally well run, and we appreciate all the time and effort that goes into making it such a great community event year after year.

It was another great opportunity to spend time together, represent the Lima American Legion, and show that veterans continue to build camaraderie both in and out of uniform. We're already looking forward to next year!

Last week, Regiment 282 joined the Townwide Parade to help kick off the Lima Crossroads Festival for a third year! 🇺🇸

With all the flags on display and so many people lining the streets, it was another great way to connect with our community. We always have a great time taking part and are already looking forward to next year!

We have been notified that Richard Garey has passed. Vietnam Veteran, Past Lima Fire chief, artist who hand lettered a lot of signage, owner of the Stanley exchange building. Please be thinking of his family and sending prayers.

Regiment 282 was proud to represent Lima American Legion at the 108th American Legion Department of New York Convention!

Throughout the week, we had the opportunity to share how Regiment 282 is using gaming to reduce isolation, build connections, and support veterans in the fight against veteran su***de.

One moment that really stood out was meeting a local veteran who isn't yet a member of The American Legion. He came to the convention specifically because he heard Regiment would be there. We spent time talking about our mission, and before he left, he picked up a controller and joined in.

It was great to see veterans of different generations stop by to learn about Regiment 282. Watching an older veteran give Rocket League a try showed that you're never too old to discover a new way to connect with others.

Thank you to everyone who stopped by our display and supported our mission. Together, we're finding new ways to connect with veterans and remind them they're never alone.
