She shared with us her Sensory Blending research and guided the audience through the listening activity developed in graduate school. Mixing sensory and sound, what an incredible experience. Three days and 250 years ago, the Continental Congress signed the Declaration of Independence that was adopted a month prior.

We celebrated the 250th with a new concert suite by Disney & Lucasfilm veteran David Glen Russell. Enjoy this excerpt of the finale of David’s suite that blends the words of many of the founding fathers with music.

Before settling in Atlanta and beginning her career in opera, Julia Glicksberg began her training USF School of Music. We are so excited to be bringing her home to celebrate “America 250” with us all! Come hear Julia sing music from George Gershwin’s Porgy & Bess and the world premiere of Austin Hammonds’s cinematic setting of “America the Beautiful”!

This Friday, July 3rd at 7:00 PM to join us in this musical celebration!

Excerpts from Ernest Bloch’s “Concerto Grosso No. 1” on our American Landscapes program—November, 2024.

Ernest Bloch was a Swiss-born composer who migrated the United States in 1917. He spent the rest of his life living in the US and taught at Mannes School of Music, Cleveland Institute of Music, San Francisco Conservatory, and was one of the founding musicians of the Music Academy of the West.
