Wedding planners… we love you, but after 20+ years in the wedding industry, there’s one thing we feel pretty strongly about: please let your couples talk directly to their DJ. 🎧❤️

We LOVE working with great planners. You keep timelines organized, vendors informed, and a million moving pieces together.

But when a couple is choosing and planning with their DJ, remember: the couple is hiring us, and that relationship matters.

They’re trusting us with the music, energy, introductions, formalities, pacing, and ultimately a HUGE part of how their reception is going to feel.

So we need to talk to them directly.

We need to hear what they envision. We need to understand their personalities, their music tastes, what they absolutely DON’T want, and what kind of experience they want their guests to have.

And just as importantly, they need to get to know us.

Do our personalities click? Do they like our approach? Do they feel comfortable trusting us with one of the biggest days of their lives?

That’s why we do our planning meetings directly with our couples over Zoom. It’s not just about filling in a timeline or checking boxes. We talk, laugh, throw around ideas, talk music, and actually get to know each other.

That relationship is really difficult to build when every conversation has to go:
DJ → Planner → Couple → Planner → DJ. 😵‍💫

Planners should absolutely stay involved. Keep us updated. Coordinate logistics. Be copied on emails. Join the Zoom if you’d like. We WANT everyone working together.

But there doesn’t need to be a middle person between the couple and their DJ.

The couple hired us. Let them get to know us — and let us get to know them.

That connection makes us better at our job, makes the planning process easier, and ultimately makes their wedding better. 🙌

For Olivia & Luke’s wedding at Hotel Haya, we paired our Intelligent Moving Lights with Wireless LED Uplighting and a custom Projected Monogram to completely transform the space.

Okay, we have to say it. 😂

We recently saw a post of a beautiful first dance… beautiful couple, beautiful moment…

…and the background looked like the lighting aisle at Spencer’s Gifts. 😭😂

Red dots. Green dots. Dots on the walls. Dots on the floor. Dots on the couple.

So, to our fellow wedding DJs:

For the love of God, if you’re using GigBAR-style lighting with those little red and green dots… (we dislike GigBAR's for this very reason)..

PLEASE TURN THEM OFF DURING FIRST DANCES.

There is absolutely nothing romantic about covering a couple in red and green laser dots during one of the most photographed moments of their wedding.

And trust us — your photographers don’t want to deal with it either.

They shouldn’t have to spend their editing time removing little dots from the bride’s dress, the groom’s face, and every wall in the background.

Use a spotlight.
Use a soft wash.
Use your moving heads.
Use some tasteful uplighting.

Hell… use NOTHING.

But please stop turning first dances into the back aisle of Spencer’s Gifts. 😂

Save the party lighting for when the PARTY actually starts.

Your couples and photographers will thank you. 🙏

Olivia & Luke gave us the green light… and we RAN with it. 🔥🪩

No Do Not Play list. No massive checklist of songs to work through. They trusted us to read the room, get creative, and actually DJ — not be a jukebox.

The result? A PACKED dance floor all night long. 🔥

We brought the club vibes to Hotel Haya in Ybor City with live mixing, quick transitions, mashups, throwbacks, and whatever that dance floor needed next.

This is what happens when you give your DJ the freedom to read the crowd and do what they do best.

Olivia & Luke, you guys were an absolute BLAST. Thank you for trusting us and letting us do our thing! 🙌❤️

🔥 HOT TAKE: Think twice before making that Do Not Play list.

We’re using “Mr. Brightside” as an example here — but this could be ANY song.

“We’ve been to a bunch of weddings and we want ours to be different.”

Were people enjoying the music at those weddings?

“Oh yes! Everyone was dancing and having a great time!”

Okay… so you DON’T want that? 😂

Look, if you genuinely hate a song, put it on your Do Not Play list. It’s your wedding.

But don’t ban a song just because you’ve heard it at other weddings.

Mr. Brightside is played at a TON of weddings.

Why?

Because it freaking WORKS.

The first few notes hit and people run to the dance floor and scream every word.

And remember: just because YOU have heard a song at five weddings this year doesn’t mean your 150 guests have.

You’re planning your wedding, but you’re also throwing a party for everyone you invited.

Sometimes the songs you think are “overplayed” are overplayed for a very good reason:

They get people on the damn dance floor. 😂

When a glowing review comes from a couple, it means the world to us. But when it comes from a fellow wedding vendor — especially one of the best videographers in the Tampa Bay area — it means something different.

Wedding days are a team effort. The DJ, videographer, photographer, planner, venue team… we’re all working together toward the same goal: giving our couples an incredible, stress-free day.

Brett with Hatfield Productions is someone we have a ton of respect for, so hearing him compliment not only our DJ services, but our communication, clean setups, audio quality and lighting means a lot.

WHEN THE WEDDING HAS THAT 2000s RAP ENERGY 🔥🎧

Another crazy wedding weekend in the books! 🙌🏻

We had multiple weddings happening across Florida this weekend, and this one took us to Paradise Springs in Lithia, FL — and this crowd came READY.

The vibe? Heavy mid-2000s rap. 🔥
Lil Jon. Ying Yang Twins. T-Pain. Nelly. 50 Cent. Usher. All the stuff that still absolutely destroys a dance floor 20+ years later.

And seriously… who doesn’t love that?! 😂

We had an absolute blast with this one. Packed dance floor, throwback energy, and exactly the kind of wedding where we get to do what we love — mix live, read the crowd, and keep it moving.
