Texas Onion Fest Annual Weslaco festival celebrating the sweet Texas 1015 onion! Our state vegetable! 🧅🤠 The festival, which began in 1989, is a festival for the entire family.

The Texas Onion Fest celebrates the development of the world famous Texas 1015 Onion which was developed in Weslaco, Texas by Dr. Leonard Pike at the Texas A&M University Extension Service. In addition to a great entertainment line-up, Onion Fest also has cooking demos, the 1015 Market, dancing horse show and more.

📣🚦TRAFFIC ALERT: Attention Weslaco Community, preparations for the Texas Onion Fest are underway! 🚧👷‍♀️👷‍♂️

Please note that there will be street closures taking place beginning tomorrow, Friday March 27th at 12PM! This may cause some traffic and delays in this area. 🤠🧅

📍Street Closure, Texas Blvd from Business 83 to 6th street
📍Street Closure, Kansas Ave from Business 83 to 6th street

*surrounding streets will also be affected by these closures
*All vehicles will need to clear the area for event setup
**Streets will reopen on late Saturday into Sunday March 29
