Martelle Dance Academy is the only locally owned and operated studio in Wellsville. We teach all levels from recreational through pre-professional as well as all abilities. As a modern based school we offer classes in modern/contemporary, ballet, tap, jazz fusion (hip hop & jazz), acro dance (tumbling) and baby & me. We also have our award

winning dance competition team that includes the Arc Angels with the Arc of Allegany & Steuben Counties. We provide professional level dance education in a safe and fun environment. Owner and Director Kate Martelle is an international award winning film choreographer with awards from New York International Film Festival for Best Dance Choreography (2 time winner) and Cannes World Film Festival for Best Dance Film. She has been teaching and performing for almost 30 years. Miss Kate has a Bachelor’s degree from SUNY Fredonia’s Dept. of Theatre & Dance as well a certificate in Performing Arts from NYU/Tisch School of the Arts. She also has a Certificate in Choreography from Broadway Dance Center in NYC. Her other dance certifications are; Acrobatic Arts Module One Certified Teacher, Acrobatic Arts Preschool Certified Teacher, Luigi Jazz Technique Certified Teacher for Levels 1 & 2, Youth Protection Advocates in Dance Certified Teacher, Rhythm Works Integrative Dance Certified Teacher, SugarFoot Therapy Certified Teacher, CLI Studios Certified Teacher and Danscend Mental Wellness Certified Dance Educator. Miss Kate has also trained with the Paul Taylor American Modern Dance Company through residency. Kate also continuously takes class with the best in business such as Antboogie (the movie "Honey" toured with Madonna and Rihanna), Stephanie Klemons (Hamilton Associate Choreogragher), Josh Bergasse (SMASH choreographer), Al Blackstone(Emmy winning Choreographer), Dom Kelley (DWTS, Masked Singer), Parker Esse (award winning Choreographer, Broadway) and many more. Along with being a professional choreographer outside of the studio Miss Kate has been the Color Guard Director for Wellsville Central School. She is also currently the choreographer for the school musical at Wellsville since 2019.
