We’d like to thank our friends and community for always thinking of us when it comes to donations of clothing, props, set pieces, etc. We thrive on support from the community, and are grateful for any gifts and donations.

However, we need to announce that we are no longer able to accept any clothing unless specifically announced. It is difficult to keep much at the barn due to the weather and critters than like to inhabit it, and we do not have much offsite storage.

Most clothing is not appropriate for costuming, and we’d rather see it donated to someone who can use it or a thrift store.

We also ask that you do not drop off boxes or bags of items and leave them in the lobby, again due to weather and critters. It makes it more difficult to dispose of.

If you think you have a rare furniture piece or prop that might be useful to us, we ask that you reach out before hand at [email protected] so we can review for potential use/drop off.

Again, we thank you for your continued support and understanding. 🙏😊

Happy World Theatre Day from the Brooke Hills Playhouse! 🎭

For over half a century, our pre-Civil War apple barn has been the rustic heart of storytelling in the Ohio Valley. On this World Theatre Day, we celebrate the standing ovations, the youth workshops, and the community connection that has filled these wooden walls.

But today, we must also be realistic about the structure that houses that magic. We need your help immediately.

In order to be ready for our beloved 2026 Summer Season, the barn structure and several surrounding areas require extensive, much-needed repairs. The clock is ticking, and these are not aesthetic fixes—they are structural necessities to ensure the continued safety and longevity of our historic venue.

Our "SAVE THE BARN" campaign’s purpose is to raise the funds necessary for these vital renovations.

How to Honor World Theatre Day: Theatre is about community. Today, we invite you—our patrons, actors, crew members, and Ohio Valley neighbors—to join the community that saves the Brooke Hills Playhouse.

Every donation, large or small, helps secure the foundation for our 2026 season and beyond.

🌟 Spotlight on a Playhouse Legend: Happy Birthday, Niccole Welch! 🌟

Today, we are rolling out the red carpet and giving a standing ovation to a woman who is truly the heart and soul of Brooke Hills Playhouse. Please join us in wishing a very Happy Birthday to board member and veteran, Niccole Welch!

Niccole’s journey with us began over 40 years ago when she first stepped onto the stage as a child in Annie Get Your Gun. Since that debut, she hasn't just been part of the theater; she has helped build it.

🎭 A Woman of Many Hats (and Wigs, and Props!)

If you’ve enjoyed a show at the Playhouse, chances are Niccole had a hand in making the magic happen. Her incredible legacy includes:

• The Talent: Bringing iconic characters to life in fan-favorites like Nunsense, You’re A Good Man, Charlie Brown, Steel Magnolias, and 9 to 5.
• The Vision: Directing multiple productions and guiding our performers to greatness.
• The Magic: Serving as our resident Makeup Queen and Prop Master for countless shows, ensuring every detail is stage-ready.
• The Backbone: From working on the paid staff in the 90s to managing the Box Office, she’s seen every side of the curtain.

🏛️ Leading the Legacy

Today, Niccole continues to give back by volunteering her time and leadership on the Brooke County Arts Council Board. Her dedication is a driving force as we move into our 55th Season, ensuring the Playhouse legacy thrives for generations to come.

Niccole, thank you for your decades of passion, creativity, and tireless hard work. The Playhouse is brighter because of you!

🎭 Happy Birthday, Jay Keener-Welsch !🎂

From the bright lights of the stage to the creative pulse behind our screens, we are celebrating a very special member of the Brooke Hills Playhouse family today!
Jay’s journey with us began years ago as a talented child performer, stealing scenes and capturing hearts. Fast forward to today, and he’s still a vital part of our "cast"—just with a few more titles!
Whether he’s keeping us organized as our Board Secretary or designing the stunning graphics and social media posts you see every day, Jay’s passion for the Playhouse shines through in everything he does.
Let’s show him some love:
• The Performer: Taking bows since day one.
• The Secretary: Keeping the Playhouse running smoothly.
• The Creative: The mastermind behind our digital look.

⭐ Help us welcome Brooke Hills Playhouse as a new member to the Top of WV CVB! ⭐

"For 55 years, Brooke Hills Playhouse has been the heartbeat of community performance in the Ohio Valley, located in Brooke Hills Park Wellsburg. As the first summer stock theatre in West Virginia, it offers a unique blend of historical charm and creative energy that you just can’t find in a modern "black box" theater.

A Stage Rooted in History
The Playhouse isn’t just in a building; it’s part of the landscape. It resides in a historic pre-Civil War apple barn, a rustic and atmospheric venue that has been repurposed to house five decades of laughter, drama, and standing ovations. This unique setting provides an authentic, "summer stock" feel that transports audiences the moment they step through the doors.

The Heartbeat: Our Volunteers
At its core, the Playhouse is a testament to the power of community. It relies entirely on the dedication of volunteers, both on and off the stage. From the actors under the spotlights to the crew moving sets in the wings, and the staff greeting patrons at the door, every production is a labor of love built by neighbors for neighbors.

A Space for Every Artist
Whether you are a seasoned veteran of the stage or a newcomer looking to overcome stage fright, Brooke Hills Playhouse provides the space to express yourself. We pride ourselves on being a training ground and a creative home for:
-Performers & Musicians: Giving local talent a platform to shine.
-Directors & Designers: Allowing visionaries to bring stories to life.
-Technical Crew: Providing hands-on experience in the "magic" of theatre.

Building the Next Generation
We believe the future of the arts starts young. Through our annual children's show, we actively encourage youth involvement, giving local kids the chance to experience the thrill of live performance and learn the discipline and joy of the craft." -Jake, Brooke Hills Playhouse
