Steps of Expression

Steps of Expression Program Steps of Expression is ran through Parks and Recreation of Wellsboro, PA. Come join us!

We teach a wide variety of dance: Jazz, Modern, Ballet, Pointe, Hip Hop, Tumbling and Twirl. What makes us unique in the community is that we hold all of our classes on Monday evenings. This is convienent for our parents and students that are involved in other after school activities, yet still want to be involved in the art of dance.

A special thank you to those that contributed to Delilah's family.
I gave Cassie an envelope filled with cards gifts and prayers.
I received this text from Cassie.

It’s not often you find a group of people who care as deeply as all those who are involved with Steps of Expression. Delilah has been dancing with Steps for over 5 years now and it’s in moments of hardship, that they rally to together.

I couldn’t say thank you enough to all of the teachers, staff, and people that came together to support our family during this difficult time. With the money, gift cards, and just offering a helping hand while we are navigating this time since Tylor was in a horrible car accident. While we are taking it day by day right now, everyone’s support and kind words do not go unnoticed and will help in so many different ways. Every single one of you are so amazing. ❤️

I just wanted to say thank you and how grateful we are for thinking of us and helping us while we navigate this time. It means more than I could ever put into words. Thank you from the bottom of our hearts.

We are so grateful to be part of this community. Always keep dancing and seeing the positive in each day. There is always something to be grateful for, like we are all of you who have had such a beautiful impact on our lives and Delilah’s. ❤️

Hey everyone! We have a few important reminders as we are getting closer to recital time. I know it's kind of long but please make sure to read -

* Tomorrow (4/14) is our last regular night of classes. Please make sure to make every effort to attend! It is important for the teachers that everyone be there as they are making sure everyone is set for the recital.

* Miss Katrina's Wave makers (modern) and Miss Dee's Little Monsters (hip hop) MUST bring their costumes to class tomorrow night (4/14) so that they can see what the students plan on wearing in the recital.

* Sunday (4/19) is an extra day of practice for - Musical Theater, Pop Rocks, Wave Makers, Mood Movers, Flip Flops, Raviolis, Jazzettes, Stargazers and those in One (the extra routine). Miss Judi has been in contact with those who need to attend, but if you lost your schedule please reach out to her.

* Next Tuesday (4/21) and Wednesday (4/22) are staging days at the Administration Building (Old High School). Please use the back entrance on these days. Each class will get 15-20 minutes to run their routines on stage to figure out spacing and lighting. It is VERY important that all students attend so that the instructors can do this properly. The schedule is in the paperwork that was handed out a few weeks ago. Please note that times are approximate and you should come early and please have patience if times are running behind. We do our best to stay on schedule but sometimes it takes a little shorter or longer than planned.

* Next Tuesday (4/21) there are no regular classes at the Don Gill, only staging at the Admin Building.

* Next Thursday (4/23) is our Dress Rehearsal. All students must attend and have their costumes. Please bring your costume sheet so you know the order of the show and what your student needs to wear.

* Next Friday (4/24) is our recital at 6:30pm at the Admin Building.

* Please note - All staging times and dress rehearsal are MANDATORY to attend to be in the recital, unless approved by Miss Judi.

* If you have lost the schedule for staging or the costume sheet please reach out to Miss Judi (570-439-6097).

* Please make sure you have everything you need for the recital including any costume pieces you need to provide, black leotard, tights, proper footwear, make up, fingernail polish remover (no fingernail polish is allowed), deodorant, combs/brushes, hair ties, and clothes to wear home.

Thank you so much and let us know if you have any questions!

Steps of expression spotlight of the week
LIFTS.🤩

A dance lift is a partnered movement where a dancer will have both feet off the floor supported by another dancer.

A lift has five phases to it
Preparation, loading, suspension, unloading, and landing. It relies heavily on timing momentum and body mechanics.

A lift will involve a base that could be one or several students lifting another dancer (the flyer) . The base must be stable and have a low centered foundation while the flyer maintains a tight engaged core with control of their body.

It is crucial for the flyer to trust their base

This week we would like to highlight three lifts that you will see in our spring recital on Friday April 24th.
A big shout out to one of our modern classes who is presenting Hamilton, one of our ballet classes that is presenting Frozen and of our tumbling classes that is presenting cats.
All three classes will have a lift in our spring recital of spotlights on Broadway.
A shout out to all the flyers trusting in the base students, and all the bass students making sure the flyers are comfortable enough to trust them...we really are a big family all coming together one night a week.❤️

STEPS OF EXPRESSIONS STUDENT OF THE WEEK

JULIUS OTBOT!🎉
Julius was nominated by Miss Kelly stating...I am voting Julius Otbot this week. He's always behaved for me but he did a great job last night. He knows his part pretty well, listens when I tell him something.

Julius is 6 years old and lives with his parents Genel and Jodi Otbot.
He has two sisters and three brothers.
Julius only takes tumbling and has been in dance for 3 years.
He likes dance because it is fun.
Julius is working on his cartwheel and he wants to learn a handstand this year.
Outside of dance he plays soccer and baseball.
At school Julius says his favorite class is math.
When asked to name something special about himself he said "I am a good friend".
CONGRATULATIONS JULIUS!
