Bak is a unique public middle school in Palm Beach County that offers a great academic education as well as emphasis in several art areas. Tonight’s showcases…Stories on Stage and Cabaret Workshop. These kids are so talented and so much fun!
Come join Alice, the Mad Hatter, and the wicked Queen as we head to Wonderland! This fun and creative Spring Break Performing Arts camp for kids in grades 2-8 will take the story of Alice in Wonderland and shake it up. Campers will decide how to retell it in their own voices with a pizza party and performance on Friday. 9a - 3pm $275/week or $60/day. Space is limited! Located in Wellington. In this exciting new class we will explore a different Broadway musical each week. Actors will watch a clip of the show, learn a song, and explore the technical aspects of the show through participation in our Creative Lab learning how to design costumes, sets, and props. REGISTERING NOW: CABARET WORKSHOP

Life is a Cabaret! In this workshop we will explore Cabaret, a style of entertainment that includes music, theater, and dance strung together over the course of the performance. Performers will work on interpretation, storytelling, and character development. We will perform for friends and family the last night of class at "The Black Dog Club".

For Disney’s MARY POPPINS at the Broward Center in Fort Lauderdale, Fl. Slow Burn Theatre is looking for bright, well spoken children who can sing, act and dance well to play the roles of Jane and Michael Banks. Slow Burn Theatre is a regional professional theater
Jane Banks (Lead) - Female Identifying, playing age 10-12; range: A3-F #5, thoughtless, short -tempered and untidy, maximum height 4’10” (All ethnicities and backgrounds strongly encouraged to audition)
Michael Banks (Lead) - Male Identifying, playing age 8 - 10: A3-E5 cute and cheeky son of Mr. and Mrs. Banks; a nosy, mischievous, troublesome little boy, maximum height 4’6” (All ethnicities and backgrounds strongly encouraged to audition)
All candidates must have unchanged voices.
1st rehearsal is March 7, 2023 (Jane and Michael will have two additional pre rehearsals on March 4th & 5th)
Rehearsals are usually Tuesday - Sunday 10AM - 6PM. (Actors will need to miss school) Tech week times vary. Jane and Michael will need to be at all rehearsals.
1st Performance is March 25, 2023
We are looking to cast 2 Janes and 2 Michaels to share the performance schedule as these two roles are quite large. Detailed performance scheduled to be given at time of casting. There will be a few week day performances for school groups.
Final Performance is April 9, 2023
There is pay for rehearsals and performances.
How to audition:
Email [email protected] with subject MP Youth Audition. Please email your Childs photo, resume (if they have one), age and height. Please allow 24 hours for a response.
2. You will be emailed back the appropriate acting sides, audition backing track and sheet music. You will also be emailed an audition time for Monday December 5, 2022 at the Broward Center where you will present the audition package you have been sent and prepared and memorized. Auditions will begin after 3PM. Please be available to come back later that evening if we need to see you dance. You will only be auditioning with the sides we send we will not need any individual selections. Please have your audition scheduled by November 21, 2022 5PM EST.
3. If you are not available to attend the in person audition you may request a video submission. Please note that any non local actors will be responsible for their own travel and housing.

We've had lots of togetherness this week...are you ready for a school holiday next week? There's no school on Wednesday, Oct. 5th. Get your kids out of the house and doing something fun at our Performance Arts Day Camp! 8:30am - 5:30pm • $50 per child/$45 siblings
When schools are closed, Camp Black Dog is open! Kids can enjoy a day of theater games, role play, karaoke, board games, arts & crafts, and more. Just send your camper with lunch, snacks, and a water bottle.
Black Dog will be closed today and tomorrow in conjunction with the closure of the school district. We hope everyone stays safe and dry! We will update about Thursday classes tomorrow.
