Thank you everyone for all the birthday wishes! It was an excellent birthday, and I truly appreciate every single person who reached out.
Huge shoutout to my staff for holding it down today while we were out. I got to spend the day on a long trail ride with my family, and I couldn’t have asked for a better birthday. I’m blessed to be 32 and healthy, and I thank God for that.
I’m grateful for every single one of you—for the support, the kind words, and for supporting what we do. I’m thankful every day that I have a place where I can continue putting out good food for great people.
Now, with that being said, as much as I can brag about the food we make, today I wanted PIZZA.
I was asked where I wanted to go eat, and I didn’t feel like driving too far. So let me take a minute to give some well-deserved recognition to another local restaurant.
If you love pizza, the heavens have sent McDowell County a Pizza God named Nate and his wonderful wife, Trudy.
Steam Engine Cafe in Northfork has hands down the best pizza I’ve ever had.
And I’m not saying that just because I like Nate and Trudy as people. Before restaurant life, I traveled all across the United States and put over 500,000 miles behind the wheel of a truck. I’ve eaten pizza in a whole lot of places, and I haven’t found one that tops theirs.
It’s pure perfection and everything you want a pizza to be. They make their dough from scratch, their toppings are top quality, and their pepperoni is unbelievable.
I’m a big believer in supporting good local businesses, and when somebody right here in McDowell County is making food this good, people need to know about it.
If you haven’t tried Steam Engine Cafe in Northfork, go check them out and support another great local business.
And P.S. — their cinnamon tracks are unbelievable.
