Hey Fortress Fam,
It is with deep sadness that I share that The Fortress will be closing. Our final day of business will be August 31st.
This is a post I never imagined I would have to write.
In 2023, when my family and I purchased this building, we truly believed we could build something special here. We wanted to create a place that brought our community together and gave families, kids, teenagers, and adults something fun to do right here at home.
For the last three years, we have built The Fortress with so much love and intention. We have poured every penny, countless hours, our time, energy, and most of all, our hearts into this place.
The last year and a half, however, has brought circumstances we never could have planned for. Between the devastating flood and Preston’s accident, our family and our businesses have faced significant financial and personal challenges. We have fought incredibly hard to recover and keep The Fortress going, but despite our best efforts, we have been unable to financially recover enough to make continuing sustainable.
And so, with incredibly heavy hearts, we have made the decision to close.
There are so many people to thank and so much more I want to say about what this place has meant to our family. For now, I simply want to say thank you. That’s all my heart can manage.
Thank you for walking through our doors. Thank you for celebrating birthdays here. Thank you for bringing your kids. Thank you for supporting us through the flood, the rebuilding, and everything that came after. Thank you for allowing us to create something special in our little corner of West Virginia.
The Fortress has always been so much more than a business to us.
And while this chapter is coming to an end, I will forever be grateful that we got to write it with all of you. 💚
