Joeās Truck Stop: āAll Used Upā | LIVE FROM THE FLANGER
Joe Truck Stop took a break from tour to swing by The (currently under construction) Flanger on a hot summer day and play Utahās āAll Used Upā for us.
Utah wrote āAll Used Upā about an old man who lived in The Clem Hotel in Spokane, WA. The Clem was one of the last buildings left in the International District after it was bulldozed to make way for The Worldās Fair. Utah would see the man gazing sorrowfully out his window at the vacant lots, and was told he never left his room and wouldnāt open the door to anybody.
Utah would wave to the man every day as he passed, and eventually the man waved back. The song was penned for those people, the ones who are cast aside and forgotten after the system has taken everything from them.
In Utahās own words, āI donāt know if this song was his story, but Iām damn sure itās not gonnaā be mine.ā
