🪚 THE RESTORATION HAS BEGUN 🪚
With solemn hands and a mix of excitement and grief, the very careful deconstruction of the damaged areas of The Flanger is underway.

One thousand thanks to Cedar, Sean, Rusty, and Brendan for the immense skill and compassion they are showing for this process.

Next, the cupola will be removed completely, remaining areas of rot and structural damage will be cut out, and then begins the task of reinforcing the structure and painstakingly re-creating and installing the missing pieces.

Remember! Our fundraiser is nowhere near over!

The Utah Phillips Library needs your help!
The Flanger Restoration Fundraiser has made great progress in its first few months. Since March we’ve received 201 donations thanks to all of you sharing this project digitally.

However, donations have slowed significantly in the last month. For this next phase of fundraising we are looking for friends across the country to help us spread the word in ways Utah would have been more accustomed with: through shows, rallies, and flyering.

Jackson Holte: “Look For Me In Butte”

One of Utah’s many collaborations with his friends and fellow wanderers, this song was written for Mark Ross upon his moving to Butte, Montana.
Ross is a member of The Rose Tattoo, the troupe of musical tramps that Utah belonged to.

Butte, America is a city fraught with culture, struggle, hardship, and joy. Any Montanan will tell you that the once mighty city remains the epicenter for the labor movement in the state.
Utah held Butte in high regard and wrote several other songs about it, including “Nevada Jane” and “Twist And A Pound”. He also signed off most episodes of his radio program with Butte’s own colloquial goodbye:

The interior of the flanger has been emptied, Utah’s belongings have been moved for safe keeping, and the new windows have been ordered!
We’re rolling down the line toward our June restoration, but we’re still a long way from our financial goal!
