Every year, The Dancer of the Year award goes to someone who represents the heart of DCOM — not just through talent, but through kindness, dedication, leadership, and love for this studio.

This year’s choice is especially meaningful to me. These dancers have spent their entire lives growing up inside those pink doors. They’ve lived the late nights, the competitions, the recitals, and all the memories in between. They’ve encouraged younger dancers, supported their teammates, and carried themselves with grace on and off the stage.

Each one brings something completely different and special to this studio — passion, joy, heart, and light. But what makes me most proud isn’t just the dancers they’ve become… it’s the people they are.

As we celebrate 20 years of DCOM, I realized there could not be a more meaningful choice for this honor.

Kids Learn How to Work With People
Dance is training for life, disguised as class.

A lot of kids are growing up with fewer chances to practice real-life skills. Not academic skills. Human skills. How to listen. How to take correction. How to handle not getting their way. How to be part of a group without needing to be the center.

Dance teaches that, every week.

They learn respect, not because someone lectures them, but because the room requires it. They learn to share space. To wait their turn. To work hard when they do not feel like it. To support someone else’s moment without making it about them.

Those are life skills. The kind employers want. The kind friendships require. The kind that build strong adults.

Dance is training for life, disguised as class.

What an incredible weekend at Miss Alabama’s Teen! 👑✨

We are so proud of our DCOM girls!

💫 Charlie – Top 16 & Miss Congeniality

Both of these amazing young women represented themselves, their families, and our community with grace, confidence, and heart all weekend long. Watching them shine on that stage made us so proud!

Kate finishing as 4th Runner-Up is such an incredible accomplishment! And Charlie being voted Miss Congeniality speaks volumes about her kindness and the way she lifts up everyone around her.

What an AMAZING day at Fusion! Our dancers showed up confident, prepared, and absolutely shining. We brought home multiple Overall winners across every age division, Highest Genre Scores, Showstopper, Top Teen Intermediate Score, multiple Title Winners, Fusion Ambassadors, Fusion Stars, and several scholarships — including the Highest Elite Dance of the Entire Competition! I am beyond proud of the hard work, growth, and heart these dancers put on that stage. This weekend was a true reflection of their dedication and our studio family. 💫🔥
