On Saturday, September 20, The Old Webster Jazz and Blues Festival is thrilled to welcome back the Onder Law Stage Combined Voices & The Band! Featuring the vocal and musical talents filled with joyful enthusiasm, members of the band have brought years of beautiful gospel music to not only the churches of St. Louis but national and international faith-based venues.

The group’s origins began in the Webster/Kirkwood communities over 25 years ago and continue to bring joy, energy, and authenticity to gospel music. Their performance pays tribute to the gospel music that is the foundation of the jazz and blues genres featured for decades in the annual Old Webster Jazz and Blues Festival.

Saturday, September 20, 4:20 pm on the Onder Law Stage!

Walter Parks, long-time guitarist/sideman for Woodstock legend Richie Havens reunites with the original Swamp Cabbage cast – Matt Lindsey on bass and Jagoda on drums. A old-school deep-south trio that re-formed in the Covid after Lindsey had a heart transplant, Jagoda drummed for a Utah Roller Derby and Parks electrified hymns, hollers, work songs and reels from Georgia’s Okefinokee Swamp which earned him an invite to be archived into the Library of Congress.

“Swamp Cabbage … sounds like a southern rock band but “thinks” like a jazz, blues or classical trio. Harmonically, their sound is more complex than the blues. Rhythmically it’s akin to New Orleans jazz. Lyrically, they offer a comedic travelogue through Park’s North Florida upbringing, all complimented by his electric guitar style – a mélange of Scott Joplin’s ragtime and Jerry Reed’s bayou pickin.” - Amazon Editorial Review

Saturday, September 20 at 4:45 pm on the James Carlton State Farm Stage!

Trombonist and composer Andrew Meyer, originally from St. Louis, MO and now based in Chicago, IL, leads the Andrew Meyer Quintet. He will be presenting music from his 2024 debut album, Silver Linings: a collection of original compositions inspired by the uncertainty of the world of music during the height of the 2020 COVID-19 pandemic, as well as his personal experiences living in Chicago. The album reflects Andrew’s deep admiration for the hard bop sounds of the 1960s, particularly the music of Art Blakey and the Jazz Messengers, blended with the modern jazz influences of the Chicago music scene.
