The Theatre Guild of Webster Groves

The Theatre Guild of Webster Groves The Theatre Guild of Webster Groves has been providing community theatre to the STL area since 1926. We have been providing community theatre to the St.

Louis area since 1926. Prior to 1952, The Guild staged monthly one-act productions at the Monday Club, and three-act productions on the Webster Groves High School stage every two to three three months. In 1951, the Guild purchased the building at 517 Theatre Lane in Webster Groves. We have been staging performances there since 1952. Our building received historical landmark status on November 5th

, 2013 by the Webster Groves City Council. We run five productions per season, one every two months, beginning in September, and finishing in May. We also have holiday and summer fundraising shows. Our auditions are always open; we do not pre-cast. We are always looking for enthusiastic and talented people who want to be involved in the many aspects of putting on a show, weather it be on stage or behind the scenes. Because our theatre is located in an older building we are not wheelchair or handicap accessible. The Guild has a total of 31 steps, including the steps outside.

This has been a truly extraordinary year for the Theatre Guild of Webster Groves, and we are so grateful for your support and for being part of our community.

This year, we…

- Replaced our badly damaged roof thanks to a generous sponsorship,

- Honored our inaugural Volunteers of the Year, Margie and Steve Knapp, in recognition of their remarkable service to the Guild,

- Produced SEVEN outstanding productions, all entirely volunteer-run (two specifically for young performers),

- Launched online ticketing and credit card sales at the door, making attending performances easier than ever, and

- Selected an incredible lineup of productions for our upcoming 100th Season!

As we look ahead to this milestone season, we know there is still so much more we can accomplish together. Please consider making a donation today to help us continue bringing live theatre to our community for generations to come.

The Theatre Guild of Webster Groves is excited for our final weekend of Silent Sky by Lauren Gunderson returning to the stage TONIGHT!

When Henrietta Leavitt begins work at the Harvard Observatory in the early 1900s, she isn’t allowed to touch a telescope or express an original idea. Instead, she joins a group of women “computers,” charting the stars for a renowned astronomer who calculates projects in “girl hours” and has no time for the women’s probing theories. In her free time, as Henrietta attempts to measure the light and distance of stars, she must also take measure of her life on Earth, trying to balance her dedication to science with family obligations and the possibility of love.

The true story of 19th-century astronomer Henrietta Leavitt explores a woman’s place in society during a time of immense scientific discoveries, when women’s ideas were dismissed until men claimed credit for them.

* REMAINING PERFORMANCE DATES: May 1st, 2nd, and 3rd.
- Shows are at 7:30pm, Sunday matinees are at 2:00pm.
* LOCATION: 517 Theatre Lane, Saint Louis, MO 63119

The Theatre Guild of Webster Groves is proud to introduce Karen Wood as Williamina Fleming!

Karen is excited to be returning to the Guild stage and having way too much fun with this role! Previous TGWG credits include: Anne in 6 Rms Riv Vu which earned her an AFL-TMA nomination for lead actress in a comedy, Boy Gets Girl (Theresa), Crimes of the Heart (Meg), and Private Lives (Amanda). She has performed with many other theatres in the area over the past 20 years - including Clayton Community Theatre, Monroe Actors Stage Company, and Kirkwood Theatre Guild. Favorite past roles include The Belle of Amherst (Emily Dickinson), Perfect Wedding (Julie), and Who Killed Aunt Caroline? (Mrs. Endicott). During the day Karen is busy homeschooling her children. She would like to thank Taylor for this opportunity and her husband Brent for holding down the fort at home!

The Theatre Guild of Webster Groves is proud to introduce Chris Taber as Annie Cannon!

A retired theatre arts teacher, Chris is thrilled to make her St. Louis stage debut with the TGWG and thanks Director Taylor Brill for the opportunity and welcome. She’s enjoyed working with this talented cast and crew! Before moving to St. Louis, she taught, directed, and acted in productions in Central Illinois for over 30 years. Some favorite roles include Lil’ Bit in How I Learned to Drive and Diane in The Little Dog Laughed. Offstage, Chris is a part-time tour guide at Anheuser-Busch (a great retirement gig!) and spends plenty of time with her family and two golden retrievers. PS: Keep an eye out for Chris in local Busey bank commercials!
