The Trinity Alps Performing Arts center continues with another full calendar of entertaining events for May thru June.
On Wednesday, May 27th at 7pm Kommuna Lux will be returning for their second time in Weaverville. Kommuna Lux brings you the heritage music of their beloved hometown of Odesa, Ukraine, the Pearl of the Black Sea. Part Klezmer, part Urban Chanson, with a dash of Ukrainian Folk and powered by rocket fuel, Kommuna Lux impacts the crowd with a nostalgic, high-energy Big Band sound from the bygone days of speakeasies and rum runners. People don’t just listen to Kommuna Lux. They fall in love! No one can resist these playful, passionate Ukrainian musicians, who have so much fun on stage that you get caught up in their joy. $20 general admission, $15 student/senior, $10 kids 12 & under.
Saturday, May 30th at 6pm the Trinity Players will be hosting their ever popular Trinity's Got Talent, featuring local performers of all ages showcasing a variety of talents for a live audience. This year, the audience as well as a panel of judges will help decide the cash prize winners, so come on down to TAPAC and support our local talent, young and old and in between. $10 general admission.
Goh Kurosawa on Friday, June 5th at 7pm. Goh Kurosawa came to Trinity County for the first time in April of this year, and had such a great time connecting with local musicians and exploring the area that he couldn't wait to come back. Goh is a composer-guitarist-singer recognized for his "Lovetap" technique, percussive elements, heartfelt singing, as well as infusing fingerpicking and flamenco with electric guitar pedals. Based in California and travelling the world from Japan, his original genre blends world music, jazz, folk, rock, and even classical. Guided by the audience's energy and Honey Beast his acoustic guitar, Goh's performances deliver emotionally expressive experiences that captivate listeners worldwide. $20 general admission, $15 student/senior, $10 kids 12 & under.
June 13th will feature traditional Irish music by Seán Gavin & Colm Gannon at 7pm. Seán Gavin is one of the most highly regarded Irish musicians of his generation. Master uilleann piper and flute player, he is the first and only musician born outside Ireland to win the prestigious Seán Ó Riada Gold Medal. Seán has toured with the groups Bua and Téada, both have gleaned top praise from Irish music critics. Accordion wizard Colm Gannon’s playing is as vibrant and beautiful as the Connemara hills. Born in Boston of Connemara parents, he learned his music from his father and brother Sean. He has many recordings to his credit and is widely recognized as one of the young masters of the tradition. Colm has studied and lectured on the connections between American culture and Irish music, and the history of Irish music, particularly in Connemara, focusing on accordion players of the last century. Both Colm and Seán have recorded and performed with the top musicians of our day, and are known for the wide variety of lectures and workshops they offer, as well as their amazing concert performances. The latest recording, THE BOYS OF 25, is a testament to their love and mastery of the tradition. $20 general admission, $15 student/senior, $10 kids 12 & under.
